Hope you liked hearing of this character created for a RetroAchievements set that I got overly attached to, but let's be real here. Gladiator gorl fights with two spears and looks like that? That rules.

Ascetoa entering the arena. The PSP's limited capability means you only have 1 facial expression ever, so she looks stoic. Her left hand spear is front and center, showing that it has two side prongs alongside its main piercing component, making it useful while taking wide swings, which is very important considering the multi-gladiator melees she was in.

Staying undefeated throughout the games, she finally earned enough coin to buy her freedom, but chose to remain a gladiator, knowing naught but the sands. Still, being free allowed her to fight more on her own terms, and perhaps eventually move up in the world.

Turns out when you have a constitution that can only be called "blessed by the Gods (for what, we do not know)" you get to pick up equipment that is so reinforced that if we assume each weight unit in game is equal to 1 pound, each spear was upwards of 70 pounds. And she was flipping 'em around!

Screenshot I will not explain the context due to spoilers, but the stance used by Ascetoa (unlocked by defeating a gladiator named Medeia for her rank) in battle, where both spears are seemingly aimed away from the enemy but I mean... this is gladiatorial combat, if you don't style the crowd will literally have you killed.

Said I'd post about her once I cleared Despair difficulty for Gladiator Begins, and I just did. Meet Ascetoa, born of Roman slaves, sold to a ludi who bought in bulk and knew 75% of 'em weren't surviving that first match.

Archive from the wayback machine that shows Glen Constatin's lifetime record as of 2016, with a highlight on the 2001 season. The highlight shows the record of 0 wins, 8 losses in the regular season and 0 wins, 3 losses in the playoffs.

There is also a French explanation of what happened: due to an inadmissible player in the lineup, all matches were declared losses after the fact.
