We Are DOOMED: ABC, CBS Melt Down Over No Gov’t Regulations From WH’s AI Summit

With their flagship morning shows on Wednesday, ABC and CBS continued the liberal, elitist media-wide campaign to take as certified, unavoidable truth the claims from certain corners of the artificial intelligence (AI) sector that AI will not only take over the planet, but “poses a threat to humanity” that’ll leave billions of people dead.That mindset was evident as ABC’s Good Morning America and CBS Mornings melted down over Tuesday’s White House AI summit, which concluded without an announcement of sweeping, iron-fisted government regulations to assume control of the industry.ABC was, as usual, the most hyperbolic. Co-host and former Clinton official George Stephanopoulos screeched that Trump “downplay[ed] the risks of AI, saying at a lunch with tech executives that the companies can police themselves despite warnings that AI poses a threat to humanity.”

Senior political correspondent and virulent Trump hater Rachel Scott relayed that the President “insists that there’s no need for the federal government to step in and rein in this technology, instead leaving it up to the companies to regulate themselves,” even though “the very tech leaders” he saw “have sounded the alarm about AI.” Scott doubled down on the apocalyptic scenarios: “With the most powerful tech executives standing behind him, President Trump declaring AI leaders should police themselves after weeks of dire warnings about the threat it could pose to humanity.”She scoffed at the signed joint agreement, whining “[t]here will be no federal guardrails on AI,” and that Tuesday’s lunch instead resulted in “a voluntary joint agreement.”Moments later, she contrasted Trump with the side she herself finds reasonable versus Trump, who has “dismissed those concerns, rejecting calls to regulate AI as a globalist scheme”:

Even after meeting with them today, you’re still calling this a hoax, so why should the American people take your word over this?TRUMP: It’s not a hoax. It’s a very serious. That’s why I changed the name.SCOTT: Okay.TRUMP: A hoax sounds like, you know, when you’re using the former name, but this name is now superintelligent. It also comes as a new poll from Quinnipiac University shows that 79 percent of voters would rather have safety when it comes to AI instead of advancements in this technology.Over at CBS Mornings, they showed that, yet again, it’s not the MAGA TV that the media reporting class has insisted.Co-host Nate Burleson panned the summit: “A White House meeting on the potential dangers of AI left many people wondering just how much was achieved. The tech CEOs who met with President Trump did agree on a request to police themselves, but critics say much stronger guardrails are needed.”Senior White House and political correspondent Ed O’Keefe said the “extraordinary” and “unprecedented gathering” featured “titans of the world’s fastest-growing and potentially most dangerous industry” who signed onto “a new set of voluntary safety standards.”“But Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, who raised the loudest concerns about the dangers of AI and wants more government intervention, expressed caution...The President and Speaker dismissed more government regulation of the AI industry, but Democrats are pushing for more action to ensure safety,” he later added.Unlike ABC, CBS and O’Keefe brought up Trump’s comments about building data centers:The President also said he discussed the construction of data centers with the AI leaders, saying he still wants them built in the U.S., but away from homes. He suggested building them could provide more economic incentives in communities where they’re being built, such as dividends to residents or bonuses for local schoolteachers.Over on NBC’s Today, co-host Craig Melvin said “the growing debate and concern surrounding AI” led to “that historic White House summit between President Trump and some of the nation’s leading tech titans.”Senior White House correspondent Gabe Gutierrez emphasized right off the bat that “there are growing questions about how binding [the] agreement really is” between Trump and “some of those powerful business leaders in the world, leading companies worth trillions of dollars.”“This morning, after an extraordinary meeting at the White House, the U.S.’s biggest tech giants are now attempting to go present a united front, despite sharp disagreements over whether AI needs more guardrails...President Trump rejecting calls for more government regulation, instead releasing a signed document,” he said.Gutierrez was the lone network correspondent to mention on Wednesday morning Trump’s moves to “rebrand AI as SI, superintelligence” as well as the release of “the new AI-powered America.gov, which the White House describes is a one-stop shop for federal services like renewing passports.”Further, Gutierrez presented balance when talking about the split inside Big Tech about the positives and negatives of AI (click “expand”):GUTIERREZ: The President emerging from the lunch with Elon Musk, Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg —ZUCKERBERG: What we can all agree on is that the American public and our customers want to know that what we’re building is working in a way in a we intend.GUTIERREZ: — and Anthropic’s Dario Amodei, who has been warning about potential dangers.DARIO AMODEI: I think the technology has really real risks, and the mechanism, how we address those risks is still under discussion.GUTIERREZ: Among those risks, OpenAI scrapping the release of its new model over security concerns and previously rogue AI agents hacking into government websites. Still, Nvidia’s Jensen Huang argues new regulations are not needed.HUANG: There is no conflict between innovation, technology and safety.GUTIERREZ: But other tech leaders are pushing for the government to do more.BILL GATES [on The New York Times’s The Ezra Klein Show]: This is the most dangerous thing that humans have ever gone near. In other areas, do we just say, hey, release your drugs, there’s no FDA. There’s no airline safety board. There’s no requirements that cars use seat belts.GUTIERREZ: The President also downplaying concerns about AI data centers, saying he’d rather they be built in the U.S. instead of China.TRUMP: The data centers are incredible — and, by the way, I’m very good at real estate.
