this whole “i’m gonna stay blind to where technology is going because i don’t like him” is insanely dangerous and it’s baffling to watch so many people fall for the trap

So this is just a blatant lie. The contract in question here is for the US Deorbit Vehicle which will be a modified Dragon spacecraft that NASA will use to deorbit the ISS at the end of life It was NOT awarded this year. It was awarded on June 26th….2024…under the Biden administration.

So NASA are saying it’s not a big deal, scientists are saying it’s not a big deal But wait! Sports journalist Johnny from Bloomberg says it’s a huge deal so I guess we should panic

This is just not true lol. SpaceX does take extreme care with debris mitigation They deorbit all spent stages when they can, put them in graveyards orbits when they can’t and have a very high success rate with doing so

So this was from crew missions and was a bit more complicated than “whatevering” the situation. Basically Crew Dragon has two parts the Trunk (used for cargo on cargo missions and used for stability in an abort for crew missions) and the spacecraft itself 1/4

Very misleading headline and article It's not "out of control" as in spiralling after a malfunction. It launched two lunar landers for NASA last year then went into a graveyard orbit (as standard for any rocket on a mission like this...besides INTENTIONALLY hitting the moon)

Genuinely have no idea how this is the best argument they have for the cost difference.

He did cancel it and rightfully because it was a failing program and what followed it was far more successful and beneficial

Except it doesn’t ban collaboration. Just restricts NSF funded research so that it’s not conducted with designated entities because China has been using this for espionage for years now And China is not a direct parallel to the USSR. Both operated very different in very different circumstances

BSF 🐀🇬🇧 @bsf42069.bsky.social · 12/07/2026
Except the U.S. didn’t get mad over either of these and China did share lunar samples with US institutions They also talked about an exchange of samples by both but that didn’t go anywhere iirc

Literally not even remotely true and completely ignores WHY there’s such things as the wolf amendment China has a history of technology transfer that enables them to outcompete the U.S. when they otherwise would struggle Rocketry would be very much one of those

Of course the tourists are here to give their retarded takes on this Rockets are hard, these things happen It’s not indicative that the current industry is magically flawed and that NASA would never see a failure

NASA bout to send people to the moon and the best argument against it is bible math
010
BSF 🐀🇬🇧 @bsf42069.bsky.social · 20/02/2026
Simple. They wanted redundant capabilities. That was the driving force NASA was well aware of the CM and deorbit zero fault shortfalls but waived them to get the vehicle to fly praying the issue that they never actually identified from the first two was fixed
010
BSF 🐀🇬🇧 @bsf42069.bsky.social · 20/02/2026
No, allowing Boeing to cut corners just to protect managerial jobs on the program was. Commercial crew program and FFCMB contracting has been immensely successful. Deliberately ignoring issues on one vehicle because of blatant favouritism doesn’t change that

Going to the moon has never been, and never will be, 'safe'. It's all just a matter of managed known risks.

This article is incredibly flawed. Firstly, the decision to not change the shield and instead modify trajectory was done by extensive ground testing (including 10 minute arc tests, modelling, worst case scenario investigations into damage tolerance and balancing risks that design changes add
