Just ban them - they are unnecessary and hyper-polluting.

I would have thought that Tony Blair and Jacob Reece-Mog were evidence that this is not the case. I can think of Christians whose moral compass seems effective in guiding their life and others whose faith pushes them towards bigotry, even cruelty. Pretty much the same for atheists and humanists.

Labour has the power to stop this and to put a hefty cap on donations. Why haven't they???

Absolutely

Trade Union funding should stop also. They've propped up labour for far too long, whilst Labour has let down ordinary workers.

The choice is a refugee, who is a member of a party that has brought in cruel & dehumanising measures against asylum seekers & continues to arm genocidal Israel; or someone whose party supports safe, legal routes to claim asylum, permanent leave to remain & who would bring sanctions against Israel.

The 5% who go to church are NOT the 'religious minority' forcing anyone to sing anything. The only religion Reform are committed be to is self-enrichment. Will kids singing about crypto & fossil-fuel donations? Reminder to Reform that Jesus said 'The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil'.

Left: Nigel Farage, "It was great (you picked up the tab for the poll), it worked, boom.. For a modest investment.. Amazing" Right: Nigel Farage to Laura Kuenssberg, "I frankly wasn't listening.. I was just there to say hello"

We also have the longest sentences in Western Europe, thousands of people, especially women, in prison for nonviolent offences, and are potentially going to add 3000 pensioners to the prison population for holding anti-genocide plackards.

Err - could it be because Labour have repeatedly failed to take necessary climate action, and Jane sat twiddling their thumbs whilst the UK burns. The whole point of the Greens (who aren't in government) is to pressurise and, if necessary, shame Labour into doing better. That's how it works.

For sure - that's why Alys need to step up. But it's a demoralising, difficult fight for us too. I understand that people are angry, but we need to support & encourage each other in our imperfect efforts. It's going to be a long, hard fight - shouting at Zack or each other won't help. Stay strong ❤️

Bryony @bryony-hazelnut.bsky.social · 06/08/2026
I think allys have been taking it seriously from the start. Its horrific, heartbreaking, unworkable & I can't begin to imagine how it feels for trans people. But climate breakdown isn't going to wait for inequality, poverty & genocide to be resolved. He's 1 person juggling impossible priorities.

The video was timed to coincide with the press conference, which must have been planned for weeks, with its panel of speakers. This itself has been driven by heatwaves, wildfires & suggestions Burnham will licence drilling in the North Sea. It doesn't mean Greens don't care about Trans rights.

Bryony @bryony-hazelnut.bsky.social · 06/08/2026
I am blessed with both in abundance. It was done better in this year of heatwaves as I spend less time wandering round the garden pulling it up 🤣

I think it will be more effective to encourage Polanski and the LibDems to keep fighting than to shoot Zack down when he's juggling multiple critical priorities, all of which matter. And sadly, Labour are currently the only party who COULD (but probably won't) actually do something about this.

Bryony @bryony-hazelnut.bsky.social · 06/08/2026
I find it really worrying that people are turning on Zack and the Green Party on the day that Labour brings in this horrific guidance. I get that people are angry and scared - but why aren't you all posting about Labour, who let this happen and Burnham, who could have paused and reviewed it?
130
Bryony @bryony-hazelnut.bsky.social · 06/08/2026
I mean, we can talk about both, and indeed the cost of living, refugees and Israel's genocide. I do appreciate it was a terrible day for trans people and their allies - I just wish the anger was aimed at Starmer & Burnham, who not only deserve it, but have the power to do something about it.

Bryony @bryony-hazelnut.bsky.social · 06/08/2026
The press conference was live & was a good while in the planning, as it had a number of speakers, including Chris Packham. The video was times to support that. At it, Polanski condemned the EHCR code as unworkable & discriminatory, as he had on many occasions. Shout at Labour not Zack.

Bryony @bryony-hazelnut.bsky.social · 06/08/2026
A terrible day for trans people, their allies & for equality - but instead of turning in Zack Polanski, who had been outspoken against the EHCR code & in supporting Trans people, shouldn't the fury be at Labour & Burnham for bringing this in? This is exactly what the anti-trans lobby group want.

Bryony @bryony-hazelnut.bsky.social · 06/08/2026
Zack made a very clear statement about the EHRC code being both unworkable and discriminatory, and voicing in the question time at the press conference. I'm imagining the press conference had been a good while in the planning , as it had a number of speakers including Chris Packham.

You fail to mention bindweed - both the creeping pink and climbing white varieties are (unfortunately) thriving - no sign of drought-stress whatsoever. As are the dandelions in my parched lawn 😁

I thought the press questions were hugely disappointing - starting with 'Why haven't you talked more about climate breakdown ' and then proceeding to ask questions about anything except the impact of climate breakdown.

Only if you listen to the right wing press. Here he's just addressed the most serious issue facing the UK and world in a very professional and direct way. 100% non-weird.

My favourite tip is to return water companies in public ownership & use the money that would be given to shareholders to fix the insane amount lost through leakage. This will make significantly more difference than turning taps off when brushing teeth, especially as most of us do that already.

As is evidenced by people complaining about former Somali Refugee Councillor Yassin Mohamud, becoming Bristol's Lord Mayor. What could be a greater sign of assimilation and commitment to the community. Yet they are not happy with that either...

Buy 3 digital thermometers - one for upstairs, one downstairs and an outdoor one (needs to be sited in the shade). Only open the windows if the outside temperature is cooler than indoors. We often open the upstairs windows earlier than the downstairs, as it usually gets hotter upstairs.

They enjoy the flexibility to wander around, to dip in & out, to move, create, to be still & to speak, finding space when they feel overwhelmed. This contrasts with the rigid format, many words & set expectations of traditional church. Neurodiverse people are diverse - one size does not fit all.

'Many are helped' - I wonder how Angela Tilby has reached this conclusion, (other than being her preferred style of worship). I'm sure 'some' neurodiverse people find traditional worship helpful. Equally, our community garden-based expression of church attracts lots of neurodiverse folk.

Rates of offending against children are the same all races and religions. 90% of men (and it is virtually all men) who offend against children who family members or known to them. There is NO evidence of higher rates of offending by Muslims.

Day 31 #30dayswild is my yearly tribute to my beautiful friend Lisa Barrott (1964 - 2024). Through #30dayswild she shared her love of wildlife, her eye for detail, sense of humour and desire to protect nature and this beautiful world. She was inspiration and I miss her 💚

Performative cruelty designed to deny asylum seekers the security of citizenship, which is already prohibitively expensive for many. Just let them work and assess their claims quickly or, where possible, before they arrive.
