Roughly 1 in 6 Oregonians receive food assistance through SNAP. From July 2025 to June 2026, more than 70,000 Oregonians lost their coverage, a 9% decrease.

To ensure they do not lose any of their federal food assistance benefits, Oregonians should respond today (Monday, Sept. 28, 2026) to mailed notices from state officials seeking more information to verify their income, according to the Oregon Department of Human Services.
