I’ve been teaching that THIS is the Americas for years (making everyone in it Americans) so I don’t think Trump’s nonsense is really the own he thinks it is

Although I will argue forevermore that no President was good, Jimmy Carter was likely one of the least bad and, (possibly) more importantly, spent a lifetime after his presidency committing to doing good. Leaves very big shoes to fill.

Based on recent news, I cannot recommend this book enough. When you challenge capital, they label you a terrorist

5) Dear Justyce is a great sequel to Dear Martin (but you can read out of order). More nuanced and a great launching point to discuss restorative justice vs punitive 6) Ghost Boys. Very well written and had promise but I hated the message so so so much

3) Punching the Air was a balanced ride and very nuanced (which I loved) and a great place to launch abolition discussions from 4) Octavia’s Brood: mix of short stories for activists. Some really good (ex: Fire on the Mountain) but many felt incomplete

First week of December’s completed books. What are y’all reading? 1)a good Kind of Trouble was beautiful. Great for young readers to have an entry point into discussions about oppression 2) Dear Martin was well written but suffers from a perfect protagonist. Entry level book to discuss racism
