Agreed. The only change is speed and ease of access. If you hunt around online, you can find copies of "fan" mail, and magazine mail that just as hateful as any thing seen today. This goes back to the 1920s (at least), but picked up in the 50s. By the 70s, it became venomous. 1/2

Sadly, this attitude has a lot of history behind it. One of the first films put out for public consumption, The Kiss [1896], received so much public outcry over the appearance of the actors (they were "ugly"), that it was remade in 1900 with new actors. Thus it was the first reboot. 126 years ago!

Even if people have this "both sides" view, I explain to them: first aim at getting rid of the Reps (who have done nothing but make things worse for decades), THEN we either get the Dems (that, as a whole, has slid right) in line, OR replace them with a party that actually gives a shit about people.
