My annual October 1st double feature, THE ADVENTURES OF ICHABOD AND MR. TOAD and SLEEPY HOLLOW

BrundleJames @brundlejames.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

I need to put the finishing touches on this years Halloween costume this weekend. I think my Belial from Basket Case is still my favorite, but this year will be good.

I only news I feel like following these days are updates on people rescuing feral cats.

There are lots of great things to say about THE FLY, but the thing that blows me away the most is how lean it is. There’s not a wasted second. It’s a little over 90 minutes but it feels like an epic.

It’s been a minute since I’ve watched the director’s cut of ALIEN, so seems like a great way to celebrate the new tattoo

I’ve reached the point in life where I think of The Metamorphosis by Kafka and I think, “That sounds nice, if I’m a cockroach, i don’t have to go to work on Monday.”

Stopped at a tiki bar and ordered the “It’s maggots Michael.”

In addition to just being one of the most fun horror movies of all time, I think I love SCREAM because it’s a movie about loving movies. Popcorn and Matinee are 2 others that resonate for the same reason.

My favorite line from the whole Phantasm series

It felt like a good day for PHANTASM 2

Saw the Ghostface Fanta today at the store and the boxes look great.

CARRIE is such a great Stephen King adaption. Carrie’s mother, Margaret White, is also one of the scariest characters in horror

BrundleJames @brundlejames.bsky.social · 21/09/2026

As much acclaim as some other horror films have received this year, HOKUM still might be my favorite movie of the year.

BrundleJames @brundlejames.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

TALES FROM THE HOOD is an all time great anthology horror movie, that has aged amazingly well.

The Colorado Festival Of Horror was a blast this year.

I met Veronica Cartwright today at a convention and she was awesome. She talked to me about working on Alien and what Alfred Hitchcock was like to work with.

BrundleJames @brundlejames.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

We are definitely in a different era in the horror movie world. I’m at a horror convention and I’ve seen 20 Art The Clowns and not one Freddy, Jason or Michael Myers

BrundleJames @brundlejames.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

SUSPIRIA is one of the most visually striking movies of all time. The whole movie just feels like a vivid nightmare. Maybe the best score from Goblin too

Worked remote today, so I walked around the Denver Botanic Garden during lunch.

A disproportionate amount of space in my head is taken up by worrying about people’s pets that I know from the internet, but will most likely never meet.

THE HOWLING is one of a couple films in contention for the greatest werewolf movie ever made.

I really like enjoy THE INNKEEPERS from Ti West. Just a well done ghost story. It feels like a slow burn 70s movie to me in some ways.

BrundleJames @brundlejames.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

Seeing John Carpenter in concert last October in LA. Absolutely one of the best experiences of my life.

COBWEB is a movie that got mostly ignored because it was released in July, but it has great Halloween atmosphere. It’s not reinventing any wheels, but it’s a fun seasonal movie to watch.

September 1st, beginning of meteorological fall, always feels like when should really start the movies I save for Halloween every year. Going with TALES FROM THE CRYPT: DEMON KNIGHT to kick off the season

In the movie HOUSE, the “V” on William Katt’s Sweater is so deep, he’s almost nude.
