On this national day of reconciliation we remember that the fundamental journey in Canada is between Indigenous and settler. We must learn to walk together for a better shared future.

I received an e-mail from a health site, to which I'm subscribed, that notified me of some test results. The thing is, I haven't undergone any tests this year. Instead of clicking the links in the very convincing e-mail message, I went to the site by using a saved bookmark. And guess what? 1/2

I received my second rejection letter for my novel, "Dark Water." The publisher liked the synopsis but they're a small company that only publishes four books per year, and they've selected the books that they're publishing. It wasn't one of my top picks so that's fine. There are still others left.

Sunset paddle, followed by beer and wings. How was your day?

It's hard for me to believe that it was four weeks ago, today, that DW and I were heading to Lake Superior, at the start of our vacation. It seems like it was only a week or so ago. Time has flown since we've been back. May the memories stay fresh.
A river tumbles over a set of falls.A senior couple sit on Muskoka chairs in a forest. They are holding hands and gazing lovingly at one another.A light-blue kayak bow sits on turquoise water and face a rocky shore that is lined with coniferous trees. The sun sets on the horizon at a point off a bay. A beach spreads across the foreground, with waves crashing down on it. Overhead, clouds like cotton candy contrast darker storm clouds, behind.

I'm going through DW's shared photo album to find content for upcoming YouTube videos, and I saw this panorama that she took of me at our campsite, sitting in my chair and enjoying the sunset. This is how I liked to wrap up a long day of kayaking and hiking.
Panorama of a campsite near a beach on Lake Superior. There is a blue tent, a kitchen tent, and an orange tent. A man sits on a chair and looks out at the bay, at sunset. Tall trees stand behind the campsite, which is roped off to indicate the boundary and to protect fragile grass.

Looking over the silhouetted tops of coniferous trees, out into a fjord. The tall cliffs that drop off into a vast river have a blueish tint from shadows and the late-afternoon backlighting. The coldness of the fjord is contrasted against the warm, sunlit clouds, above.

A nude woman poses on the floor, on top of a draped curtain that also covers a cube-shaped object on which she rests her elbows. She is turned in such a way as to remain modest, and low light casts shadows over her. The image is rendered in a drab monochrome, which creates a dark mood.

Random photo of the day: Rideau Canal. #photography #OttawaPhotographer
Three low-profile, white tour boats are moored along the far side of the Rideau Canal, which cuts through Ottawa, Canada. In the foreground, green plants partially hide the sidewalk, behind. To the right of the image, in the background, the former train station, now the Senate of Canada building, blocks most of the view of the castle-like Chateau Laurier hotel, with only its pointed towers peeking above the senate. In the middle, a bridge spans the canal, on which there are trees and a sloped lawn on the left bank. Above, clouds partially cover the sky, though the glow of the setting sun blows out the sky below them.
