A historic shrine nestled inside the famous Arashiyama bamboo forest. It has a lot of history to it, as it is an ancient site where imperial princesses stayed to purify themselves. #japan #kyoto #arashiyama #shrine #goshuin

Enjoying the scenic bamboo forest at Arashiyama 嵐山, with its seemingly endless rows of bamboo stalks. It's nice to relish in the calming sounds of rustling leaves and bamboo stalks swaying in the wind. #japan #kyoto #arashiyama #bambooforest #traincrossing

One of the most famous temples in Kyoto, best known for its wooden stage that juts out from its main hall. The main hall and the stage are architectural marvels as they are built without the use of a single nail.

Built as a striking example of Buddhist Pure Land (Jodo) architecture, Byodoin Temple (平等院) in Uji sits on a pretty pond within its expansive grounds. The temple's Phoenix Hall, featured on the back of 10 yen coins, is one of the few original wooden structures to survive from the Heian Period.

A futuristic building near Osaka Castle, the Osaka Museum of history is a great place to stop by after visiting Osaka Castle. Every floor visually chronicles a different era of Osaka, from the ancient Naniwa era, to the Edo era, the Meiji and pre-war era, until modern times.
