It is reported elsewhere that a cull of wild horses is about to commence. Coincidence?

All of this is very convenient: Foreign owned channel that reports on current affairs and provides opinion - usually right wing- rabidly anti-Labour govt, but Ofcom thinks is just entertainment. Ofcom thinks a lot of people are stupid, while doing a disservice to the stupid that watch GBNews.

Some of us are old enough to remember that the damage cigarettes do was in some dispute, but slowly the link to health problems became too evident to ignore. There are recorded problems with vaping but the long term damage of taking a chemical no matter how benign deep into the lungs is unknown.

I’d rather have a migrant centre than live under the fascism of Reform. What an empty threat.

And if the MSM/BBC were as half as vicious towards this as they were towards Rayner who mistaken paid less tax than she should have done he would have to resign. But so far you can hear a pin drop…

Except it’s not empirical is it? Poll are found to be wrong on so many occasions it’s amazing that you or anybody else takes them seriously. The only poll that is ever correct is the exit poll after a general election. The remainder are not worth the paper they are written on.

I will be amazed if these elections go ahead. There is absolutely nothing in it for Trump, so he is likely to call the whole thing off as the US is at war.

Do you not recognise her, Sir T? It’s our Lady of the Leaves, Liz Truss! I heard she had fallen on hard times, so not surprised she was surreptitious with the baps. I thought she might have had a couple bags of long life salad away (sell by date: six weeks) but she seems to be fingering the buns.

You must be mistaken or misheard! She never makes a gaffe, always right and always thinks about what she says before she says it. However there are rumours that she doesn’t know where petrol comes from…

I’m surprised Beth Rigby backed down. Normally she is like a dog with a bone with Labour politicians.

They didn’t look happy with that response! And stupidly doubled down by actually stating that they were repeating a stupid, baseless allegation as though that vindicated their position.

What?? Has the Economist been hacked?? Jenrick has no ability, no vision, and no coherent plan. Reform were roundly rejected at the last two by-elections as their rhetoric is just division. There is no intention of forming an economic plan other than tax cuts for the wealthy.

Only if you are stupid enough to believe them. The numbers of Reform voters stating, ‘Brexit wasn’t done properly. We were told [insert lie]… And nothing has happened’ is astonishing.

If there is only one thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about, then surely the only thing worse than being in the Epstein files is not being in the Epstein files. Nigel features a lot thereby showing he is in great company!

Agree with the options analysis- and you can place all of this at the door of Burnham. Burnham revealed himself to be ambitious to the point of undermining the govt and petulant when he didn’t get what he thought he deserved. But replace Starmer? What a foolish conclusion to come to.

brompty.bsky.social @brompty.bsky.social · 24/01/2026
Agree with the first statement but disagree on the second. Polanski’s grasp of international politics is weak at best. His screaming from the sidelines revealed a really desperate side to him and his lack of understanding of what was happening: it was for ‘likes’ rather than a considered response.

But he would have to turn up for PMQ’s every week. Or his deputy would cover each week and that’s some tainted Tory so it would be the end of Reform…

brompty.bsky.social @brompty.bsky.social · 15/01/2026
I don’t think Jenrick was the main problem Badenoch faces. She is a disaster of a party leader, haemorrhaging people to be Reform, and the party does not appeal to electorate at all.
000
brompty.bsky.social @brompty.bsky.social · 15/01/2026
It’s a shame your party isn’t appealing to Reform voters: by splitting the left vote the door for Reform to take power is left wide open.

I guess it had nothing to do with large sections of Wales voting for Brexit despite being a net beneficiary of EU funding? That will be Labour’s fault too I suppose…

I believe Reform voters think it won’t affect them. They believe that immigrants are taking all the appointments, that other people have too much money spent on them and the NHS is totally inefficient. Rid the country of immigrants and a Reform DOGE and they will be fine. Until they need to use it..

I’m not convinced that children are at more risk of harm from social media than middle aged adults who believe every single lie and conspiracy theory they read. When adults are furious about losing the possibility of producing porn on X then something has gone wrong.

Because it’s the Farage show. One of the issues for Farage is that these people have ego too - imagine having enough cheek to join Reform after describing them as far right racists. They won’t be quiet for long - I’m hoping for spilts and fallouts very soon.
001
brompty.bsky.social @brompty.bsky.social · 13/01/2026
Reform is just the mouth piece for Farage. He has no experienced candidates and the previous ones chosen were a disaster. He had no option but to gain experienced ex-MPs. The trouble is they are all disgraced ex-Tories. Either the party splits with these idiots or it becomes a laughing stock.

brompty.bsky.social @brompty.bsky.social · 12/01/2026
What it shows is either desperation on the part of Farage, so short of experience and talent that he will accept Zahawi, or it was massive mistake in his judgement. Either way what a gift for the other parties.

brompty.bsky.social @brompty.bsky.social · 12/01/2026
I fear Reform is running out of ammunition: immigration down significantly, London not a lawless city, economy looking up. I just wonder why all this positive news isn’t reported by right wing, billionaire owned MSM?
000
brompty.bsky.social @brompty.bsky.social · 12/01/2026
Reform has done well to attract the very best! Nads is back on form, Zahawi is very hot on matters of tax, that Lord who made a fool of himself on QT. Surely a party of the people now! It’s Kemi I feel sorry for; can’t Nigel squeeze her in too?

A large section of the electorate are currently looking across the Atlantic and thinking ‘this must never happen here’. There is also a big chunk thinking, ‘lovely, yes please’. They either don’t understand what Farage is proposing or they don’t care and are welcoming it. These are dangerous times.
010
brompty.bsky.social @brompty.bsky.social · 09/01/2026
The problem is easily solved by not going at all. We had a trip planned but now indefinitely postponed until there is significant regime change in the US.

Trump can and will cancel the elections. Who are people going to appeal to? The courts? He’s already stuffed them with loyal Republicans. The media? Same. Police and law enforcement? Well just look what happened yesterday.
