What happens with his career is small potatoes compared to that, and returning to the public eye is 1,000 steps down the road if it's even possible or good (and I don't think it is for a number of reasons). He doesn't have to go destitute, but losing a platform is the bare minimum right now.

Whatever "redemption" could look like is something that is determined by the people who actually know him and are directly affected by his actions. We don't know him. We're so far away from where the conversations that matter might be.

Sometimes I feel like we're cursed with the dream of the internet as an effective consensus-builder. Like deep down we still think that yelling into the Machine enough will cleanse the world of evil thoughts when all it really does it keep us from the sorts of conversations and reflection we need

I also came to understand that my grandpa must be some kind of LeBron-level physical specimen, because not only did he work there for over 40 years he did it while running over 10 miles every day. I'm still baffled

I worked in a dairy plant a couple of summers. Almost every person who had been there for more than a couple of years had some sort of chronic pain. The workers went on strike at one point when the company tried to fuck them on health insurance, and the level of community support was unbelievable.

I've noticed the same thing with all sorts of local event posters made with AI. Not only do they not have the gumption to make a single poster themselves, they don't care to learn a single thing about design at all. They have all the impulses of a 4th grader. It's pathetic.
