Cllr Steven Jefferies spoke to the BBC about the pollution incident that killed many fish, including endangered eels, in the River Pool, which runs through north Beckenham. The Lib Dems have long campaigned for tougher action and greater accountability to protect our rivers.

Our local Police were on Beckenham Green this morning speaking with residents about bike marking, crime prevention and support for victims of domestic abuse. It’s great to see officers out in the community. Local police updates and community events at www.metengage.co.uk

With less than two weeks to go before election day we wanted to remind you of the six main things we promise to do for the borough of Bromley. This includes fixing our streets, housing and policing. See here for more on our 'six to fix' manifesto pledges www.bromleylibdems.org.uk/manifesto

From saving the Churchill Theatre to helping residents claim back unfair parking fines. Just some of the ways we have helped the people of Bromley. We hope to be back after 7 May because there is more we want to do. See our record of action here - tinyurl.com/289b8ank

Bromley Lib Dems are backing the London Loo Alliance, a coalition of 15 organisations, calling for more and better public toilets in London. We have been asking the Tory-led Bromley Council for more publicly accessible toilets for some time but little has been done. www.ageuk.org.uk/london/proje...

We were delighted to go to the Bromley 'Experts by Experience' hustings to see how we can better support the deaf and disabled people in our community. Allan Tweddle, our Orpington candidate, represented the Lib Dems. The Tories and Reform didn’t even show up, speaking volumes about their priorities

Sutton Lib Dems have published their manifesto for the local elections in May. It's full of ambition and clear sighted vision for the future of their borough. It shows what a council run by Liberal Democrats can achieve! www.suttonlibdems.org.uk/manifesto

We joined hundreds of Bromley residents on 22nd March to march in protest against Berkeley Homes’ proposal to build 2,200 homes on Hayes Farm. We all owe a huge debt to the organisers. See our account here www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Mu0...

Sad to see Bromley's 24-hour police counter closed on 28 February. Sadiq Khan broke his promise every borough would keep a 24-hour police station. Cllr Graeme Casey said the idea of someone fleeing to the station at night and finding it was closed was "frightening".

It's good to see that work has started on the pedestrian crossing on Homesdale Road; we hope that work will be completed by Easter. Meanwhile traffic is controlled by temporary traffic lights along Homesdale Road, and Godwin Road is closed at the junction with Homesdale Road.

Bromley Council must do more to tackle empty homes in the borough. Figures highlighted this week show the number of long term empty properties, empty for 2 or more years, went up from 381 in September 2024 to 497 in September 2025 – a hike of 30%. We suggest an officer is dedicated to this issue.

Charging for parking in Norman Park has been approved by Bromley Council - despite more than 5,000 signatures on a petition. The Conservative councillors voted in favour, all opposition councillors voted against. The plan also introduces charges for blue badge holders.
