Since we’re back in the election = « harm reduction » twilight, here’s a poem from my forthcoming book that addresses this pet peeve.

"I'll Go In The Morning"

I'm clicking your obituary closed
as harmless search
as browser window's hotbox funeral
as overdose rolled up in google
as another deadly tubed machine.

Your body's two months deep.
Can't know who never came but me.
To take you in as browser's splurge.
We'll never cover you. One body went.
Another stayed—gray shirt of his inside my closet.

I put on the material & keep it on—
then, hover the donation box. Can I? Abrupt
& punked, God's drag queen dress again.
Another diva lost to funeral. Never an official
address to rhinestone patch the gauze.

To drop Naloxone, test strips, who will call
your first name now. After the cause & death,
your sister whirs her own thin sheet of static
electricity across the city, each of us nameless
as lightning bugs circling the in-patient yard.

Or so I read to numb. Or so I read your name on google.
Or so when they call the election "harm-reduction"
I'll hear the click of calls he forwarded after
I'd finally just found
