Brock Hall @brockhall.bsky.social · 08/10/2026I get into factory sim games for like 3 days until I realize it's smarter than me. Then it feels like math problems. 000 0
Brock Hall @brockhall.bsky.social · 30/09/2026When second editions of games are announced, artwork is usually at the top of my list of things I want to see changed. It's weird when it happens to a game with already fantastic artwork. Like a second Edition of Scythe??? I'd love it, but if the artwork stays the same it almost feels like a waste. 001 0
Brock Hall @brockhall.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Cheap ramen has never had a better time to be so much more than it is now that bougie ramen is a thing. Chili crisp, a dash of black vinegar, finely grated cheese. The broth goes from blah to OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO 000 0
Brock Hall @brockhall.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Ya know I was half expecting the most unsettling line in the movie to be "of course I'm being totally honest with you", but "I think there's different levels of wealth" has me thinking they picked the boring stuff for the trailer...and that's saying something. 000 0
Brock Hall @brockhall.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Do you have a beloved band you refuse to even listen once to a specific album? I love Radiohead and Beck. Took forever to get to In Rainbows. Crazy right? Well now I'm giving Sea Change a try finally. 000 0
Brock Hall @brockhall.bsky.social · 23/09/2026I learned how to make oat milk with literally ice and oats in a blender. You gotta strain the mix after, but a 1:6 ratio of oats to water makes perfectly fine milk. That's like 8 cents for a half gallon. 001 0
Brock Hall @brockhall.bsky.social · 23/09/2026Everything about this movie is looking into some form of a mirror. Keaton at himself, movies at their own greed, theater at their self importance, actors and their pretention, soundtracks and voiceovers at their cohesion. It mocks it all and IS it all. Somehow that makes it immune to criticism. 000 0
Brock Hall @brockhall.bsky.social · 22/09/2026There is a video of someone trying to cut fruit with an axe head suspended with a string. Why would anyone spend the time to try this, I thought. But why am I watching? And now I'm posting about it. And you're reading it. It's perverse. 000 0
Brock Hall @brockhall.bsky.social · 22/09/2026Birdman is a movie that insists upon itself ABOUT a man who insists upon himself. It's about making a play that is written with exposition scenes as on the nose as the play depicted. A real person playing themself who hates the guy who feels more real when playing a fake person. 100 0
Brock Hall @brockhall.bsky.social · 22/09/2026If I see a show do a storyline I've seen elsewhere, the other show did it first. Time means nothing to my experience. 000 0
Brock Hall @brockhall.bsky.social · 21/09/2026I don't know who needs to hear this: there are TONS of old speakers at thrift stores. Don't get that new soundbar with wireless tech, it costs 80 bucks! Get the computer speakers for five bucks. Unless you're an audiophile, you really won't notice the quality difference, as it's diminishing returns. 010 0
Brock Hall @brockhall.bsky.social · 21/09/2026Today is a good day: I finished my first draft of the Pots rulebook! I still plan on a PNP file for only 5 bucks, so get ready for that! 010 0

Brock Hall @brockhall.bsky.social · 21/09/2026It feels like a different genre of interest to me, that halfway spot between board game and sport. Maybe that's why they're ignored by some people? 000 0
Brock Hall @brockhall.bsky.social · 21/09/2026Yall what is it about this site that really keeps your attention? I'm largely not a journalistic person--I just want people to see the work I'm doing and connect with other board game creators. I've had a hard time understanding what this has over something like Reddit I guess. 000 0
Brock Hall @brockhall.bsky.social · 21/09/2026The new Beck album is taking longer than I wanted to settle into my brain. Often it's the second spin that things settle in my ears. Until then, this feels to Morning Sound as TKOL did to Kid A. We were unfair to TKOL, collectively, so I want to have patience here. 000 0
Brock Hall @brockhall.bsky.social · 20/09/2026It continues to be just amazing to me that we watched a guy throw a metal ball at glass with full confidence it would work. And it didn't. Twice. Then the price went up. And people STILL thought the Cybertruck was going to be good. 011 0

Brock Hall @brockhall.bsky.social · 19/09/2026Epomaker barebones kits are a decent option. Also, never underestimate a 20 dollar hotswap. They're really fun to upgrade with pennies taped inside or painting the inside of the keycaps with silicone sealant. 000 0
Brock Hall @brockhall.bsky.social · 18/09/2026If I mention how much I hate Youtube thumbnails with a person imitating a surprised fish, do the 600k likes come in all at once or will it take a couple days? 000 0
Brock Hall @brockhall.bsky.social · 18/09/2026You sound convinced and not largely willing to play in this discussive space. But it's also great that you know the things you want! 000 0
Brock Hall @brockhall.bsky.social · 18/09/2026I should specify I meant all consoles have limitations, and it's part of the handshake gamers make when choosing what to game on. PC for real power, consoles for a more relaxed environment, switch for....well switch is complicated. All have details within that choice. 110 0
Brock Hall @brockhall.bsky.social · 18/09/2026The switch 1 chugs when playing Animal Crossing, a game made exclusively for the switch 1 BY NINTENDO, so it's not fair to fully ignore power either. The consoles also have their limitations on power. If I'm simracing, it's on PC. Power dictates more than just graphics, it dictates available genres. 200 0
Brock Hall @brockhall.bsky.social · 18/09/2026I think that's offset elsewhere in their design philosophy. Being so family oriented vs the other consoles makes it odd to categorize them as the luxury brand, yet the title....kinda fits? What you get is lovely, and you can't get it elsewhere, and it absolutely isn't monetarily practical. 000 0
Brock Hall @brockhall.bsky.social · 18/09/2026I'm working on the rulebook for Pots. Things are going to be rudimentary with this rulebook for sure, but one little joy I am able to easily add is a tiny rotation on the illustrations. 000 0
Brock Hall @brockhall.bsky.social · 18/09/2026The new Sylvan Esso album seems to have taken some inspiration from the liveset done during covid. Still good not great, but the more analog production really suits their music more than what they were doing before. If they can hit that sweet spot, they're like fun Bon Iver. That's rare. 010 0
Brock Hall @brockhall.bsky.social · 18/09/2026I was super jazzed about wireless charging initially, but using it is seriously frustrating. My phone lasts 2d/ charge and I've had it almost a full three years now. New features on phones continue to be so useless. 90% of what I do on my phone was possible 10y ago--screens and cameras changed. 000 0
Brock Hall @brockhall.bsky.social · 18/09/2026The new Samsung flagship is the first phone in 10 years that has brought a new feature I care to have: adjustable privacy screen settings. Because it's turning pixels off to achieve this effect, it will match the size and shape of, say, notification popups, or autoapply on specific apps. Just...wow. 100 0
Brock Hall @brockhall.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Markus Dravs was a production improvement, keeping consistency instead of messy stabs at genre shifts like we got previously. This focus helped the songwriting and messaging tighten up, and for my money is both her most interesting and most characterful album. 000 0
Brock Hall @brockhall.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Daily Underrated Album: How Big/Blue/Beautiful by Florence + the Machine As far as I'm concerned, Adele can have her slow tearful piano ballads; they're.....flat?....and they drag. Listen to this album and it's full of the same wistful reflection, but it has TEETH and JUICE. Perfect? No. But great. 100 0
Brock Hall @brockhall.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Actually, I hated the original Shovel Knight because platforming is already not my style and it ended up being just on the wrong side of clunky. I have also never finished Hollow Knight so it's not a blemish on the game really. 000 0

Brock Hall @brockhall.bsky.social · 18/09/2026I think only like Breaking Bad has come this close to having such a rich tapestry of history, information, and interconnectivity. It's almost a felony we didn't get more. The steady pace from "haha superheroes in real life would be dumb" to "the existence of PP means GCI is gov run" is impeccable. 030 0

Brock Hall @brockhall.bsky.social · 18/09/2026A bold move but it worked for Rovio for a while. I think picky game enthusiasts might balk at this, citing deeper experiences as better candidates. But Root is Redwall, Scythe has already jumped, and TI is a story you make yourself. Cartoony, whacky games do feel the ripest fruit to pick. 000 0
Brock Hall @brockhall.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Ok not the SAME price but for a lot of people it's still a "choose one" situation. 010 0
Brock Hall @brockhall.bsky.social · 17/09/2026The upside is that these games have receive a lot more hype by being available before all attention is squarely on those tentpole titles. Forcing people like yourself to take the time to discover how good those games are might mean newcomers will more readily expand their library when they commit. 010 0
Brock Hall @brockhall.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Nintendo kinda does this to themselves though. This is, lets face it, not the same power you can get out of the other consoles, for the same price. There's cool exclusives, but many of them share enough similarity with games on PS5 that the focus naturally drifts towards the truly unique experience. 420 0
