I have ever seen. A huge new, grotesque shopping centre, casino, bars and restaurants, sitting overlooking the decrepit mall, now only fit to serve poor people during the day, and the even poorer at night, the accidental juxtaposition rendering a dambing, visceral reality of Gatsby-esque renewal.

Sat the old Stratford shopping centre. Run down, grubby, cheap but full of life and energy still during the day. At night the homeless would congregate in there and NGOs and charities would bring clothes and cut hair, give out advice and support where needed. It was the moat depressing thing....2

There are guardrails in the UK that dont exist in the US. The judiciary is genuinely independent, there is no possibility of the UK supreme Court ruling that a PM is exempt from prosecution, the US is uniquely corrupt and its people uniquely accepting of corruption.
