Have a scene in my current story where a pig gets hit by a fast moving car and my affection for pigs is so great that to make myself feel better about it I wrote this alternate line where the pig is unharmed and escapes into the woods.

A few feet in front of us, inches away from the front fender of my car, a great hairy pig scampers lightly across the road, coming to a gentle trot as it crosses the culvert and slowly ambles through the bushes, disappearing into the woods.

Like, I learned what I needed to from this Frazetta study, but I also just love how much the rough gradient of the background contributes to the mood. I know I could find a brush that recreates that texture, but at that point I may as well start learning how to actually put paint on canvas.
