Footing the bill for an over-budget grand project should never come from the funds used to maintain our roads and fill potholes. WECA should cover the £3 million Portway overspend so that more money can be kept for road maintenance. www.bristollibdems.org/news/article...

Over-budget Portway should not be funded at the expense of Bristol’s road maintenance
Road maintenance budgets shouldn't be sacrificed for grand projects following £3 million Portway overspend.

To those in the Green Party who are left feeling unwelcome and out-of-place, the Liberal Democrats will always condemn the politics of division - you are welcome here and our door is always open. From Leader Cllr Jos Clark, on behalf of the Bristol Liberal Democrat Group.

The @libdems.org.uk have proudly led the way in Parliament towards a two-state solution by calling for the recognition of Palestine, full accountability for war crimes, ending arms sales and pushing for sanctions on the illegal settlers in the West Bank.

In Bristol, we will not let the Green Party use the City Council to promote this extreme view, and ensure that Bristol continues to be a city of sanctuary for all.

We want our Jewish friends and neighbours in Bristol to know that the Liberal Democrats hear your concerns, and that we reject this irresponsible and insensitive policy adopted by the Green Party nationally.

It also actively undermines a two-state solution that has the best chance of bringing a lasting peace in Israel and Palestine.

The motion conflates British Jews attending synagogues with those of the Israeli far-right who hold the most extreme positions, which is as utterly wrong to do as comparing all Muslims to Hamas.

It is a divisive motion that plays politics with such a sensitive issue, and does nothing to address the rise of Islamophobia and Antisemitism on our streets in the UK.

Our statement on the motion recently passed at Green Party conference: We are deeply concerned by the motion passed by the Green Party at their conference, and know that many Jews in Bristol will be left feeling less safe this week than they did last as a result.

With the cost of living crisis, making sure that everyone can heat their home in the most affordable way possible is more important than ever. That's why we have put measures to improve energy literacy at the top of the council's agenda to help residents save on bills and tackle poverty.

Call for urgent action on waste collection in response to ‘unacceptable’ missed collections
Following three weeks of missed bin collections for some residents, Bristol Liberal Democrats have called for Bristol Waste and the council to implement an immediate, city-wide recovery plan.

Have you had missed bin collections recently? Some streets haven't had their bins collected for three weeks! This is a clear failure of a basic public service. Residents deserve a dependable, functioning waste service. We are calling for urgent action and an immediate, city-wide recovery plan.
