I think the Pels say no. Zion and LaMelo have similar flaws (defense, availability), but it feels like Zion's offensive efficiency is closer to making a winning player than LaMelo's grab-bag potential

NBA teams are running more But is it helping? There's actually a *negative* correlation bw pace and efficiency📉 A few super-slow teams are grinding opponents to dust with efficiency plays — esp Boston's Mazula-ball halfcount offense and Houston's rebound-happy, rim-protecting mega lineups

FYI my methodology = tracking rank ranges based on preseason content in my own spreadsheet, and looking at the ones with highest StdDev Obviously only accounting for results so far As an example, Dan, Ben, and Josh were all wisely low on Sabonis, but Josh had the hardest fade, thus gets the W

I sorta think we’re seeing the impact of this awesome draft class & it may self-correct in ‘25-26? The tankiest teams (Tor, Uta, Was) are being *unbelievably* egregious But the teams with ~locked playoff position are actually not being that bad? (I say this as someone with lots of Mobley & J Dub)
