bridgitb.bsky.social @bridgitb.bsky.social · 24/07/2026I just got one a few days ago from a "Mr. Marcel Sithole" and I'm considering changing my name to that. 020
bridgitb.bsky.social @bridgitb.bsky.social · 13/07/2026Oh lord, me too! Starting at about age 8. And Anne McCaffrey a couple of years later. I read Myra Breckinridge when I was 13, and just thought it was weird. 000
bridgitb.bsky.social @bridgitb.bsky.social · 11/07/2026I don't like or eat hot dogs of any kind, whether meat or veggie, but if I did, it'd be a Chicago dog (mustard, sweet pickle relish, chopped onions, tomato, dill pickle spear, sport peppers, and celery salt). 000

bridgitb.bsky.social @bridgitb.bsky.social · 30/06/2026That's it, though they also spend a lot of time sitting by the road and glaring. 010
bridgitb.bsky.social @bridgitb.bsky.social · 25/06/2026As an American in the South who has seen uncountable numbers of ceiling fans, I've NEVER heard of one falling off, if that helps. But I get irrational fears. I have to keep the shower curtain open unless I'm in there because that's where the axe murderer hides. 150
bridgitb.bsky.social @bridgitb.bsky.social · 10/06/2026I still can't hear it without thinking "your (pronoun) scarf (noun) it (pronoun) was (verb) apricot (adjective)", etc. 020
bridgitb.bsky.social @bridgitb.bsky.social · 10/06/2026I went to a VERY progressive elementary school in the mid-70s and one exercise we had to do was pick out the parts of speech while our teacher played us that song. So one time through it was nouns, the next verbs and so on. 130
bridgitb.bsky.social @bridgitb.bsky.social · 10/06/2026"Free Fallin'" by Tom Petty takes me back to the comic shop before the campus alternative radio station started, while "Sunny Came Home" (years later) is from the weird singer-songwriter mix they played all the time at the fabric store. 010

bridgitb.bsky.social @bridgitb.bsky.social · 02/06/2026In high school English I read the first chapter of The Red Badge of Courage and refused to go any further. The first half of the final exam turned out to be entirely devoted to it, but by good guessing and creative BS (and acing the rest of the test) I managed to get a B+ on it. 010
bridgitb.bsky.social @bridgitb.bsky.social · 01/06/2026OMG it IS, isn't it? I can't believe I missed that, having imprinted on Dahlov Ipcar's The Queen of Spells (also Tam Lin) at an early age myself. 000

bridgitb.bsky.social @bridgitb.bsky.social · 05/05/2026I gave up on him after trying and failing to get through Magpie Murders, so I feel happily justified. I just found it deeply tedious and I couldn't be bothered to care about any of the characters. 150
bridgitb.bsky.social @bridgitb.bsky.social · 08/04/2026I turned 13 at the end of 1979 and 23 at the end of 1989 so that was peak formative years, and yes, it absolutely was pining and panic, hairspray and the threat of nuclear war. Also see "Two Suns In the Sunset" by Pink Floyd. 130
bridgitb.bsky.social @bridgitb.bsky.social · 27/03/2026I'm 60th, and I've moved up several places! My library is good about getting extra copies, though, so I'm hoping it won't actually be the "several months" they claim before I get to read it. 010
bridgitb.bsky.social @bridgitb.bsky.social · 25/03/2026When this was first announced and I saw the title I immediately went "Oh NOOOOOOO." But I'm still gonna read it, even though I know I'll regret everything. 040
bridgitb.bsky.social @bridgitb.bsky.social · 15/03/2026In the early 70s my grandparents' black and white TV was struck by lightning and all it did was fuse the power switch so that you had to plug it in or unplug it to turn it on and off. It still worked for years after that. 151
bridgitb.bsky.social @bridgitb.bsky.social · 25/02/2026A few months ago I had five vials drawn, not too bad, but the first (I forget what it was for), needed a priming vial, which they threw away. My perfectly good blood! "Excuse me, I was using that!" 010

bridgitb.bsky.social @bridgitb.bsky.social · 13/02/2026But Beulah wasn't Elsie's only child! In 1947 there was Beauregard, and ten years later there were twins named Larrabee and Lobelia. It seems the first "living Elsie" was named "You'll Do, Lobelia", which sounds like another story in itself. 1120
bridgitb.bsky.social @bridgitb.bsky.social · 02/02/2026Definitely agree. Ditto anything "birthday cake" flavor, i.e. sugar with a little vanilla and a hint of plastic. 160
bridgitb.bsky.social @bridgitb.bsky.social · 02/02/2026Caramel. It's mainly the texture, because I don't like sticky, but also the flavor is... fine, I guess. I think macarons are always disappointing, too. Too sweet and something about the texture is off, and I usually do like the combination of crunchy/creamy. 010
bridgitb.bsky.social @bridgitb.bsky.social · 15/01/2026I draw flowers well, and I'm not bad at birds and insects. Media-wise, I'm best at pencil and pen and ink, though I've done some decent acrylic abstracts. 030
bridgitb.bsky.social @bridgitb.bsky.social · 15/01/2026I admire anyone who can draw horses! Mine always look like they're crouching down on their hind legs in a way that horses don't, though I've been practicing and I'm getting better. I can draw flowers pretty well, though. 120
