As a survivor of #PostpartumPsychosis I feel quite strongly that the Lindsay Clancy case is demonizing a serious, but treatable mental illness. It is making it harder for those who suffer to find compassion and care. Please understand that this is re-traumatizing for me as well.

One of the hard truths about teaching at a non elite uni is that sabbatical is sometimes just a dream. Writing and researching without such a privilege is exhausting. But I must move forward and remember that writing is rewarding in and of itself. I will produce scholarship regardless.

Before going on partial medical leave I had individual meetings with all my in person students over the past week. I helped them come up with research projects and guided them through this process of either getting a new instructor or preparing them for the transition to online.

I’m out of the classroom with asthma. It’s bad asthma. A colleague stepped in to teach. Students had to take selfies with him and send them to me for attendance. He made a sign. Asthma sucks, but colleagues with a sense of humor are great.

I was unable to attend class today because of an asthma flare up. I had the librarian step in and teach (he was amazing, BTW). I took attendance by having the students take a selfie with the librarian and email it to me. They were hilarious photos. It was a cool idea. I'm trying anyway.
