Lovely article about an unexpected herpetological collaboration between kindred spirits from different walks of life. Stories like these give me hope for the future; my hat is off to Señor Peñafiel and Mr. Bentley for their remarkable science, and to Alexa Robles-Gil for her exceptional journalism.

Interested in joining my lab and the Tulane University Biodiversity Research Institute? Guillaume Rieucau (LUMCON) and I have incoming funding to support a masters student who will use imaging sonar and traditional sampling to study how fishes utilize artificial reefs in Lake Pontchartrain.

So far this morning one of my grad students received a long-awaited specimen, another one cracked a difficult PCR, and I conducted an interview that has me excited (watch this space). Even with all the crap happening in the world right now, this is a nice reminder that sometimes good things align!

Boosting the signal on my awesome colleague Alex Gunderson's study of lead exposure in invasive Anolis in New Orleans. Somehow, they endure higher levels of lead in their blood than any other vertebrate!
