Wrote and released pr-age-gate - a GitHub Action and CLI to help aide Node.js governance, or yours! Make a PR cook for a configurable amount of time... ❌ under 48 hours ✅ 48 hours or more github.com/marketplace/... #opensource #github #governance
A screenshot of action output. It mostly says "Open for 46h 44m — needs 48h (1h 16m remaining)

Today my wife and I chose to empty a piñata went had for 7 years instead of breaking it. They don't make em this adorable anymore. Only 40 pieces of candy for inside. She'll have a home. Our small bit of compassion for today. Yes I'm anthropomorphisizing and I don't care.

Finally released my long-form version of Finite Source Machines: Contribution for Busy Humans from All Things Open this October. Read it at approachableopensource.com/blog/2025-op... Thanks again to @allthingsopen.bsky.social for the opportunity. #opensource #lessonsfrom500yearsago

Gave brianmuenzenmeyer.com a facelift this week. I've leaned into this notion that I don't fit into a neat box anymore. I'm a multifaceted leader and human, at work, in life, in my relationship, etc. I keep seeing this reality in my travels, and sometimes it even hinders me.

@aviv.sh and I are working on an End of Life (EOL) page for @nodejs.org. Better communicating the risks of staying on out of date software is work worth doing, and helps the entire ecosystem stay safer. github.com/nodejs/nodej... #opensource #nodejs #vulnerabilities #cve

Just released a new post: Do I Need This Node Dependency? Wherein I step by step highlight a bunch of new features released on the Node.js project, and wrap up with a longer narrative about open source pace layers. brianmuenzenmeyer.com/posts/2024-d... #nodejs #opensource #pacelayers
Open Source Pace Layers, by Brian Muenzenmeyer. Inspired by Stewart Brand's similar concept, we see 7 concentric circles. From the innermost and slowest to outermost and fastest are: Specifications, Foundations, Open Governance, Frameworks and Runtimes, Libraries, Forks, and Application Code. The graphic is labeled Open Source Pace Layers v1.0.0

Are there any folks in the @nodejs.org community interested in taking a slightly more active role in internationalization efforts? We have a number of languages in need of proofreaders, and even language coordinators that can resolve questions/approve suggestions, etc. Here's our biggest needs:

bizarre reproducable @github.com bug in commit UI 1. go to github.com/nodejs/nodej... 2. Toggle between code and rendered view of the yml diffs 3. Each time you do this, the UI renders another instance of the actions listed in the workflow and prompts you to "Give feedback on dependency review"

Added the @bsky.app logo to the @approachableopensource.com top nav - might tweak the path further - had to mess around with a smaller viewbox due to the way the site loads its existing icons.
