Officially #PhDone. Loved every minute of it and very grateful to everyone who helped along the way - particularly my supervisors Prof Andrew Pepper and Dr Dominique Jeannerod. Now available for any non-medical emergencies specifically involving the use of documentation in crime fiction…

Lovely review in the Irish Independent for The One You Least Suspect (out Thurs): "An utterly believable and breathlessly exciting examination of the distrust and suspicion that still permeates post-Good Friday Agreement life in the North from the pen of a true master of Ulster noir crime fiction.”

Coming to it a year late, but this novel from @rebeccamakkai.bsky.social is just wonderful. Beautifully written, thoughtful and challenging. A masterclass in writing.

I’m thrilled to reveal the cover for my new novel, The One You Least Suspect. Out 8th May, 2025. A gripping, heart-wrenching thriller that explores the fine line between right and wrong, justice and revenge, and how you choose your side when everyone is guilty.

@gbpoliceadvisor.bsky.social ’s City on Fire - out in March 2024 - is an intelligent, nuanced police procedural which explores the personal cost to those caught in the crossfire in the fight against drugs in Brighton. Gripping, authentic and not to be missed.

Officially publishing on 4/1/24 but in shops in Ireland now, @samblakebooks.bsky.social’s new one, Three Little Birds, is well worth checking out. Immersive and richly detailed, past and present collide in this gripping first instalment in a new series.

I’ll get my first ever screen credit as a writer on this Monday’s episode of Hope Street on BBC One NI at 7pm and on iPlayer. I’d a ball writing on the show. Hopefully viewers will enjoy it too. And if you do watch, keep an eye out for the Camping Supplies sign!

Catching up on long overdue reading and started with David Fennell’s newest, The Silent Man. Layered story telling in an expansive canvas, combining Fennell’s knack for building creeping dread alongside a deep empathy for his characters. His best yet! @davidfennell.bsky.social
