Tom Petty was right. Waiting IS the hardest part. We are so very close to launching the next Family Graves comic into the world that I can't stand it. Here's some great art by @brianatkinsart.bsky.social & @jj81-studios.bsky.social. #digthefamilygraves #comicsky #makecomics #indiecomics #monsters

A super-happy mega-terrific #coloristappreciation day to all comic book colorists--and esp. to @jj81-studios.bsky.social, whose work on The Family Graves has elevated the book to amazing new heights! (Pencils and inks by @brianatkinsart.bsky.social.) #makecomics #comicsky

My general rule of thumb is that if it doesn’t make the face look like it’s made out of Play-Doh then it wasn’t a hard enough looking punch. 😆😆 #drawingcomics #makingcomics #comicart

Really happy with this panel yesterday. That all 🙂

I told my comics class that you have to purposely add old people, young people, and different kinds of people because it turns out they exist. So when you draw a crowd, even if you only draw one bug-eyed old witch it helps.

Time to break up these witches NYE party. Drawing up this page tonight till the new year.

More art from the second out-of-this-world Family Graves mini-series. @brianatkinsart.bsky.social is doing a fantastic job! Keep following for more on this monster family adventure comic that's like The Munsters meets The Fantastic Four. Big things happening in 2025!

Surprised that Instagram continues to be the best app for me to actually see what artists are creating. I slowed Way down on that app due to meta AI but just not seeing much art elsewhere, especially here.

Brian Atkins @brianatkinsart.bsky.social · 11/12/2024

Drew this and liked this. Look at this ☺️ That’s all

These witches just be up to too damn much! Just make a cauldron of tea and Chill, please But NoOoo it’s take over this, rule over that, use this building sized construct to store mystic powers so we are All-Powerful. 🙄

Love it when I can get the face done first try and I’m really happy with it. Makes me feel like I won. What do you mean I have to draw the rest of the page?? I drew a good face, it’s done now.

Did a bunch of the comic starter packs and my feed has hardly any art or comic craft just depressing stories and anger. Lots to be depressed and angry about nowadays for sure. Just looking for some light and inspiration but this place has not been it.

Looking through past issues of The Family Graves with @timothybachstuff.bsky.social for reference on this last issue and love seeing panels I really enjoyed. This was great little beat moment with a once off character. 😄 #makingcomics #comicart

Just finished teaching class on drawing the torso for @kapowschool.bsky.social Here are the demos and sketches I did during class. I find using a simplified mapping of muscle groups the easiest way to learn the torso, especially the back

Do you like werewolves? Cause we got werewolves 🐺 Layouts for The Family Graves w/ writer @timothybachstuff.bsky.social

030

Brian Atkins @brianatkinsart.bsky.social · 18/11/2024

Only a couple dozen more pages to layout today and tomorrow. 😅 I love and hate layouts. I love the storytelling but man does it wear me out. Really hoping that come up with some cool stuff for thefamilygraves because @timothybachstuff.bsky.social has given me a great script

Layouts vs Final Lines This was always my favorite thing to see from other artists when I started. The process and how the art evolved.

Happy Monday. Here's a cropped sneak peek of a cover for the next issue of The Family Graves, the monster family adventure series I create with @brianatkinsart.bsky.social that's sort of like The Fantastic Four meets The Munsters.

Instead of business cards I'm doing small bookmarks with a variety of stuff I do. Character designs, comic pages, teaching demos, commissions, etc. I don't know if you guys will like it but I certainly like it more than a boring card.

These witches gonna rock the club! My cameo streak continues. Couple panels from my and tim Bach comic the Family Graves! This page nearly broke me and I'll need to seriously think about how I work my pages moving forward but I can confidently say this book has my best work in it to date!

Did some work cleaning up the sketch of deathstroke and moved it to the Batman blank cover last night for this commission. This final sketch phase is actually my favorite part of a commission.

010

Brian Atkins @brianatkinsart.bsky.social · 28/02/2024

Working up some options for a Deathstroke commission. Then I let the commissioner choose their favorite and go from there. Big fan of characters that dual-wheeled sword and gun #deathstroke #blankcover

this morning I opened up my PC tower and cleaned it out with the ol air canister and alcohol wipes which I haven't done in a few years. And then afterwards when I turned on my computer it was so quiet I was sure I broke it 😅 The damn thing had apparently been choking to death on dust and grime. 🤦🏻‍♂️
