We knew the tokens were subsidized. We used Opus with glee. Now we get to add cost as the next dimension to this already complex equation, which carries a non-zero risk of costing more than it’s worth to implement

One of my favorite quirks of Opus (all LLM models?) is how they voluntarily estimate labor time, saying "Cost of this feature: Small. Half-day of...." and I'm thinking, bro... you and I both know you'll be done in 5 minutes, stop the humble brag

If you can get specific on a current blocker I might have more specific recommendations, or I might 🤷‍♂️ lol

3. More granular PAT/API keys for agents that work on my behalf. All my host CLIs have full read/write, but I only want the agent to have read until ready for deploy. I need to switch environments with the same agent. Some projects that are working on that problem, but we don't have *the* answer yet
120
Bret Fisher @bretfisher.com · 28/03/2026
2. better sandboxing. I'm working with Docker on improving their sandbox tool, and creating some guidance on an OpenCode client/server container model for harness sandboxing.

Bret Fisher @bretfisher.com · 28/03/2026
But right now we're in need of 1. better agent permissions models for local tool calling. Claude Code just launched more intelligent permissions *this week* with "auto mode"

Forcing ourselves to be agent harness-first (it will cause negative productivity gains for near term) seems to unlock peoples learning path (ripping off the bandaid of human file editing). Then find a study group you can learn with.

Bret Fisher @bretfisher.com · 28/03/2026
I've started shadowing multiple new Guild members each week this month and it's clear who's forcing themselves to use the prompt for most/all work (pre-production work) and who's still editing files by hand 50% of time and "just dabbling in AI."
120
Bret Fisher @bretfisher.com · 28/03/2026
My advice right now is generally, get good at TUIs (Claude Code, OpenCode, etc.) and practice using the prompt to keep AGENTS.md updated and making Skills for your agent harness. Skills are the big unlock in 2026, but all this takes lots of practice, even after reading the docs.

It's still very early says for everything agentic post-commit. Lots of SaaS saying they can solve big problems with AI but I'm not sure all these problems need to be fixed by a proprietary product.

There's very little of substance, and nothing end-to-end that I know of. Current content lacks teeth (no specifics on tactics). It's one of the reasons I created the Agentic DevOps Guild: training and discipline around applying these tools to infrastructure and automation. bsky.app/profile/bret...

Which is more active and more authentic at #kubecon, X or Bluesky? I asked Claude for analysis of last two days. Across both, 2/3rd of posts are corporate accounts or humans promoting, with 1/3rd being genuine experiences and shared learnings. X has more posts, but Bluesky has more "real humans"
Stats of posts and people posting them on X and Bluesky for KubeCone, with this summary text underneath the stats: Verdict: X Has More Volume, but Bluesky Has More Authentic Voices
X has more raw posts (~260 vs ~190), driven heavily by corporate and bot accounts. The percentages are actually similar across both platforms — about 64–67% of posts on both are some form of marketing or corporate presence.
However the unique human voices in Category 3 tell a starker story: Bluesky had ~54 distinct humans just sharing their experience, while X had only ~32. Bluesky's Category 3 is qualitatively richer — more humor, personal observations, reactions to talks, community moments. X's Category 3 is thinner and more diluted by news-summarizer accounts and amplification bots.
One notable X-specific pattern: about 14+ near-identical tweets from different human-looking accounts all sharing the exact same Broadcom press release within hours of each other — coordinated PR amplification that has no real equivalent on the Bluesky feed.
So yes — your hypothesis holds on X too. But the ratio of authentic-to-promotional is actually slightly better on Bluesky, and the humans posting there are doing so with noticeably more personality.
