Late Equalizer Can’t Spoil DeMelo’s Return

Brendan Devine @brendan-devine.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

#RacingLou ends their six game losing streak in the most Racing fashion ever...by giving up a last minute, stoppage time equalizer to earn the draw and extend their #NWSL record streak of games without a clean sheet. Sav DeMelo makes her return in a wonderful moment for her and the team.

Emma Sears gets the call up for October camp and two matches against FIFA #1 Spain. With World Cup qualifying happening at the end of November, one has to think this is a very big camp for the #RacingLou forward to show what she can bring to the team against elite competition.

Gives indication that the team still has a lot to play for through the final four games even with the playoffs out of the picture. Player rotation tonight suggests a shift towards seeing what younger players can bring to the future

Head Coach Bev Yanez spoke after the match about how giving up goals coming out of the half makes it difficult for the team to actually implement the changes they talk about at half. There isn't concern about an overload of information or players getting cold. #RacingLou #NWSL #LOUvsSD

Halftime in Louisville. Racing has had some chances including a goal called back but in many ways this is reminiscent of last month. SD sat back for 15-20 minutes, let Racing push, and slowly increased pace and pressure as the half went on. #LOUvsSD #RacingLou #NWSL

Lots of changes to the starting XI for #RacingLou. Sears back to the bench after a lackluster game against Bay, Rachel Hill gets her second start in lavender, and Macey Hodge returns to the midfield. #LOUvsSD #NWSL

Interesting new #NWSL player development mechanism that could help teams with less liquid assets remain competitive through salary cap relief and rewards for identifying and developing youth players. It will be two years before teams can fully realize the potential of this rule.

It is very striking to me that the players genuinely do seem to be finding ways to stick together, stay positive while also acknowledging the collective on field struggles. It would be very easy for a team to be looking to the off-season already but I don't get that feeling talking to the players

#RacingLou Head Coach Bev Yanez after Racing's 2-0 loss to Bay: "We cant stop, we have to continue, and we have to keep fighting." "We haven't had a good season. We know that. We're aware of that" Lots of discussion about mental attitude and how they want to be viewed and view themselves. #NWSL

Racing is lucky to be even at the half. Bay has dominated nearly every aspect of this game and has outshot Racing 13-2. It feels like Racing is struggling to stay on sides when they do get possession in Bay's half. Gonna need to make halftime adjustments #LOUvsBAY #NWSL #RacingLou

It's halftime in Orlando and watching this game I am struck by how similar @racingloufc.com and @thornsfc.com styles feel. The one big difference: Portland is able to string passes together and maintain possession for longer periods of time. Racing's struggles passing the ball need to be addressed

Racing Loses Third Straight With 2-0 Loss to Angel City

It’s a cruel sport but not all losses feel the same

010

Brendan Devine @brendan-devine.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

At this point, a 2-0 loss is largely the same as a 1-0 loss so it's better to chase the late equalizer. Ultimately, Angel City played excellent defense and Racing struggled with finishing shots they finished when these teams met back at the end of July.

Tough loss for #RacingLou. Fell behind in the second half on a rocket of a goal and then gave up a second in stoppage time while actively trying to get the goal back. Can't fault the team for giving up another goal while trying to get points back. Tough loss and doesn't get easier with Gotham next
