Could there be a program that that locks out the ‘select all’ function in a doc? If the recipient could only select 500 words at a time. It would take a dedicated thief to copy an entire manuscript into AI.

If you love a book, write a nice review. It gives the author encouragement for bad days when they want to take up scorpion petting. - @lianabrooks.bsky.social #WriterSky #BookSky #KidLit
Handwritten quote on a white sheet with an illustrated face at the bottom and pink hearts around the text. The quote reads:
"If you love a book, write a nice review. It gives the author encouragement for bad days when they want to take up scorpion petting."
— Liana Brooks

Illustration and lettering by Debbie Ridpath Ohi. A paintbrush lies across the page on a wooden surface.

This sounds like such a neat idea for a workshop. It feels like an under-discussed area when we're trying to teach writing. How to be creative, over a long period, while being a human in the world

Pearls Before Swine for 10 Sep 2024
First Panel: two dudes in a diner are reading the newspaper and sharing a cup of coffee.
Dude 1: “DID YOU HEAR WHAT THEYRE DOING WITH THESE GENDER-NEUTRAL BATHROOMS?”
Dude 2: YEAH. WHATS HAPPENING IN THIS COUNTRY?

Second Panel: Rat has joined the two dudes in the diner.
Rat: WHATS HAPPENING IS THAT GOOD, MIDDLE-CLASS JOBS THAT USED TO BE IN THIS COUNTRY WERE MOVED OVERSEAS FOR THE BENEFITOF HEDGE FUNDS AND CORPORATIONS FAR RICHER THAN YOU.

Third Panel: Rat continues to elucidate
Rat: TOGETHER WITH THEIR CAPTIVE TUDGES AND POLITICIANS, THEY ARE PART OF AN ELITE CLASS WHO HAVE BECOME SIGNIFICANTLY MORE POWERFUL WHILE THE REST OF US ARGUE OVER BATHROOMS.

Last panel: Rat has turned back to talk to Goat. Rat is drinking Coffee, Goat is drinking Tea
Rat: SOMEONE HAD TO SAY IT.

What do rhythm guitarists and vacuum cleaners have in common? When you plug them in, they both suck. What do you call a guitarist who only knows two chords? A music critic.

I am so thrilled to announce that my story, "You Know I'm No Good" has been accepted into GuiltyCrimeMag's flash fiction series! While the tale behind this story may have been complex, I'm so happy it's had a happy ending after all!

This kid slightly misunderstood their homework assignment and we could not possibly love it more. 12/10
a white sheet of paper hanging from a black clip against a blue wall. the paper is a worksheet with the words, "my dog is a..." with the instructions to circle one of the following words, "hero," "companion," or "worker." instead, the word "circle" has been circled in pencil, and the rest of the sheet reads, "because he is round" in crude handwriting. next to the explanation as to why the dog is a circle, is a drawing of a very rotund dog with a tiny tail and little feet. this is an A+ assignment if we've ever seen one.

‘The Writer’s Dog’ - My cartoon for this week’s @theguardian.com books
Title: The Writer's Dog

A writer commands his obedient dog to undertake some tricks:

Sit!

Shake hands!

Play dead!

Give feedback on my latest draft, and be brutally, honest, unless you hate it, in which case, be diplomatic!
