Game completions of 2026: 7) Xenoblade Chronicles 3 A deep emotional counterpoint to 2's anime melodrama, and further proof that you can have romance in JRPGs without sacrificing anything else. Story and acting are great. Gameplay is what you would expect from this series. But it's loooong.

Game completions of 2026: 6) The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales One of my new favorite games honestly. So campy and fun, I honestly wouldn't mind if it overstayed it's welcome. I loved the gameplay and the story and thought the music was great. Another Team Asano classic!

Game completions of 2026: 5) Yoshi and the Mysterious Book Don't buy it, rent it. A fun, one weekend kinda game. No risk, but still rewarding. Has that cozy Yoshi atmosphere, though it lacks substance. Liked the ending

Game completions of 2026: 4) Mina the Hollower A nostalgic romp. Yacht Club perfecting the formula for making the "Almost but not quite" retro game. Solid 8/10 Does a lot of things right, but can't stick the landing. Enemies don't follow the same rules as Mina and the hit boxes are a mess.

Game completions of 2026: 3) Pragmata A game I was excited to play ever since its trailer premiered in 2020. It lived up to the hype! I don't think the release version keeps the same ghostly isolated feeling the original promised in entirety. Still slaps

Game completions of 2026: 2) Death Standing 2: On the Beach Less baby kissing than the cover would lead you to believe. An entirely unnecessary addition to the complete story that is the first installment, but fun enough in its own right. The most MGS4 Kojima game outside of MGS4 itself!

Game completions of 2025: 1) Resident Evil: Requiem A return to the classic Resident Evil formula after a pretty long hiatus. As much as I love the remakes and the Winters duology, it's nice to see what's going on with the overarching narrative. Great game. Lotta surprises and callbacks to boot!

3) Metroid Prime 4: Beyond An odd duck. I enjoyed the game, but there are some serious issues here that put this entry squarely into the lower tiers among its peers. A single missed scan, terrible AI for the NPCs, and grinding green crystals leave me loath to play this again any time soon.

2) Hollow Knight: Silk Song A wholeheartedly impressive sequel and standalone game in its own right. Successfully expands on both the story and gameplay of the original without compromising a thing! Hornet was fun. Music was great. Lots of challenges in store!

Game completions of 2025: 1) Donkey Kong Bananza The first game I've beaten this year and the best so far! Kinetic fun, and more story beats than I would've expected from a Donkey Kong game! If only these guys could take a crack at Banjo Kazooie too!

I could see there being a space for a satirical card game where they caricature characters to represent how "The Others" perceive them as a way to promote dialogue. i.e. the Metal Slug character portraits which were rumored(falsely) to be from the enemies point of view. But this... This is not that.

9) The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom The swan-song Zelda title for the Switch. So excited to have finally played as the title character! A little long winded by series standards but fun puzzles and cute visuals!

8) Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club My spooky-game pick for Halloween this year was Emio! Gotta say it lived up to my expectations. Another great entry in the series and was absolutely perfect for the season. Love both the humor and the drama in this game!

Game completions of 2024: 7) Astro Bot After the short but sweet Astro's Playroom, I was excited enough to sink my teeth into this full blown affair and I wasn't disappointed. While losing a bit of Playroom's originality, it makes up for that with the further fleshed out campaign.
