31. Primetime (2026) Ultimately not a movie I'll be thinking about much but I appreciate the discussion that it ignited regarding Hansen as seeking fame and sensationalizing justice more than actual journalism with his show. Skyler Gisondo is the biggest highlight in this movie tbh

30. Resident Evil (2026) Loved it. Nonstop thrill ride with some impressive dynamic lighting and camerawork throughout. For as much as some online folk complain about this not being a straight adaptation, it captures the feel and atmosphere of the games much better than anything that came before

29. Coyote vs Acme (2026) Fun time. Wasn't wiping tears away but I was consistently chuckling and smiling. Surprisingly very sweet at times and the underlying message regarding the power of corporations and how you should never stop fighting them despite any losses is pretty apt in this day and age

28. The Odyssey (2026) Much as some changes/omissions from the original story bug me, I can't deny that this is one of the strongest of Nolan's catalog. The third act is truly what elevates it with the way they characterize the Trojan War and recontextualizes everything you've seen up to that point

Ultimately you'll get the most out of the film if you're queer but anyone with a troubled relationship with sex will be able to get a lot out of this and the message behind it all was something I'm glad to see told so eloquently, all with a love and reverence for slasher movies of the 80s too ❤️

26. Spider-Man Brand New Day (2026) Keeping thoughts less granular to avoid spoilers but initial feelings is that it clears the prior Jon Watts entries. Movie is elevated a lot by being so street level and so much of it capturing the appeal of Spidey as a character in ways the other three never did

25. God of War: Sons of Sparta (2026) An okay Metroidvania, nothing special. I appreciate hearing TC Carson as Adult Kratos again, especially with such a different direction than prior Greek games, but the games inclusion of Norse mechanics don't gel super well here given the limited movepool

24. Evil Dead Burn (2026) A fun time overall but lower on the totem pole for the series for me. There's some damn impressive camerawork here and it also delivers on the bloody, disgusting, and gory fun you come to expect but that final sequence really falls flat, especially with the awful CG in it

23. Gravity Rush (Vita) I don't think it holistically works but it's a cool game. There's no real skill set to foster and I feel the game lacks interesting challenges but the movement system was fun to mess around with and it was weirdly soothing tinkering with gravity and zipping around the map

Honestly really gutted from the recent news of Sony going purely digital starting 2028 and the shutdown of the Vita and PS3 stores. Even with owning a nice PC I still really enjoyed consoles because of the major plus of owning your games if you went physical, adding it to my collection and all that

Villains were also exponentially better in this one. Odin, Thor, and Heimdall were all fantastic. And for any critiques I have regarding pacing and character demeanors shifting too suddenly, the Valhalla mode honestly mitigates some of this by being a surprisingly poignant bookend to Kratos' arc

22. God of War Ragnarok (PS5) Has a lot of the same issues as 2018 from the usual Sony AAA-isms and I think that game did some things better, but loved it about the same in part due to the much better combat engine really showing off how mechanically rich the Norse GoW combat system actually is

21. Toy Story 5 (2026) Woody's inclusion feels redundant and unneeded, it takes a bit for it to really get going with a messy start, and the parents in this being so absent minded really took me out at times. But otherwise? A very emotionally resonant conclusion to Jessie's arc, very good movie

Biggest gripe is I wish it was longer, feel like it could benefit from a good 10-20 minutes more with the core tenets of the horror/religious aspects along with the relationship at center stage here. Especially that final bit given how cute the two are and the barebones drama that occurs early on
