im assuming overambition/wanting to adapt more than the first major arc or possibly maybe a bit of wanting to refine the adapted section a bit more? like the first arc of hdwr has a decent focus on side chars that eventually peters out as it goes on, maybe tamiful wanted to "trim the fat"? idk tbh

unfortunate ramifications of cutting chars and squashing down the amount of story they wanna adapt into 8 episodes. it also doesnt really help that hdwr is a very 'inner voice' heavy manga and theyve chosen not to adapt that aspect too well

i think its worth recruiting sofia every route bc of this. not only is she cute and easy to recruit bc she loves every meal but if nothing else she makes an extremely good physic bot in part 2 and that can sometimes be what u need to let your main team go off
