A quiet summer is the perfect time for a Quiet Revolution. Our podcast is six conversations about race and power – the awkward stuff behind why orgs can be very busy and still not change much. Start with our most-listened episode, ‘The Illusion of Progress': www.brap.org.uk/podcast

Really pleased to launch The Quiet Revolution yesterday - a collective of five orgs committed to experimenting, taking risks, and trying more imaginative approaches to anti-racism. They'll be experimenting from now until Jan next year. To keep up to date, drop us a line: www.brap.org.uk/contact

Last year, we spoke with pupils across Birmingham. And we heard stories like this. In response, we created ConnectED - a free one-day session for teachers (and others) who want to learn more about how racism operates in the classroom. More details here: buff.ly/x4tFoDG

Great conference today from MEAM on systems change. We spoke about why racism persists: because individuals and systems practise avoidance, which breeds defensiveness and guilt. Anti-racism has to be embodied, long-term work – rooted in humanisation, not just policy statements.

Some events give you information. This one asks something of you. Our 5th Anti-Racism Bootcamp is not a conference, training session, or place for easy answers. It is a space to feel, unlearn, reimagine and build courage with others committed to anti-racism. www.brap.org.uk/post/the-pro...

Just wrapped up our final Breaking the Cycle session on decolonising economics. We mapped out the work already happening across the city to build a living economy – from workers’ co-ops and community gardens to time banks and grassroots organising. There’s more going on than people often realise!

Could you explain the social model of disability in 80 seconds? Jamie tries to do it in this clip 👇 If we’re serious about disability equality, we need to move beyond 'fixing' individuals and start tackling the barriers around them.

Talking about racism at work isn’t hard because it’s rare. It’s hard because it’s normal. What makes it even harder? The moment it’s named, the focus shifts – from systems to feelings, from harm to defensiveness. Until that changes, progress will always stall. www.brap.org.uk/post/taking-...

The opposite of racist isn’t “not racist”. It’s anti-racist. In schools, “not racist” often looks like silence. Anti-racism is active – it’s what we choose to do, every day. As #RaceEqualityWeek ends, the question is simple: what will we do differently next week?

The hidden curriculum is about power. Not just rules or policies – but everyday norms: whose stories matter, what’s worth learning, and the “right” way to learn. If you're a teacher and up for the conversation, there are resources here: www.brap.org.uk/post/connected #RaceEqualityWeek

Because it’s #RaceEqualityWeek, we’re sharing posts on racism in schools. This one is about the hidden curriculum. Not everything pupils learn is written down. Alongside lessons, they absorb messages about what’s normal, valued, or seen as “other”. More info: www.brap.org.uk/post/connected

“I don’t see colour.” “There’s only one human race.” Well-intentioned phrases, but they miss the point. If we choose not to see race, we also choose not to see racism – and that makes it harder to challenge what’s happening in schools. #RaceEqualityWeek
