Finished growing Crystal #3! It's honestly been a good hobby for my ADHD. It takes 10-15 minutes to set it up, then I enter an alert and *forget it entirely* for several days. When the alert goes off, I check its growth. Repeat the latter part 1-2 times and I have a neat crystal like this!

Trying another new organizational system. Going old school with it: Post-Its. I've got a big TV that I use as my computer monitor. I wrote one task on each note and stuck them around the edges of the screen. A good reminder every time I sit down! ...A *better* reminder? Sticking one IN THE MIDDLE!

It's also got a lovely dreamlike sensibility the whole way. The "Darth Vader" is a pair of conjoined twins, joined at the beard, on roller skates. The lead gets thrown in a dungeon for musicians, who are painted green for some reason and play Dr. Seuss instruments. I'd consider it an edge case.

...But the adults in his life realize (surprised!), that they remember the events of the "dream" too. It's a very tongue-in-cheek version, considering you see him fall asleep. But I've always been more partial to it than if he just lived in a Dr. Seuss world, or Isekaied himself there or whatevs.

My first* attempt at growing crystals! I used an $8 kids' kit this time, but for future experiments I plan to by borax etc. and mix the brew up myself. And I'm going to crystalize gothy things! Like masks! And skulls! It's been a long time since I had a... whatsitcalled... hobby! * Successful!

I'm growing crystals, as a "hobby". Right now I'm using a kit for kids, but I want to start growing them on masks and skulls and similarly Goth Shit. Here are my first two experiments. For Experiment #1, I verrry caaaarefully measured in too much water, and it didn't work right. Exp. #2 was great!

I finished "What Remains of Edith Finch" today. Stared as the long and pretty credits sequence played, as what I'd just experienced washed over me. If "Kentucky Route Zero" is 'the next Great American Novel, but a video game', "Edith Finch" is 'the next Great American *Novella*, but...' etc.

There's a short book by an ad exec from the '40s that outlines the process of creativity, and one of the stages of 'GTFO from a creative mindset and try not to think about your project at all for a while.' The book taught me nothing new, except that the stages of creativity are universal + dumb.

I didn't get as far as installing Crosspoint on my X3. For some reason my brain didn't scale it accurately from the photos, and I didn't realize I'd be reading a paragraph (or less) at a time. I played with it for a night (which was fun!), and now I'm returning mine. Agreed on the buttons!

But I've also always been emphatically "too much." At nearly 46, that's clearly not going anywhere (and is at least partly my neurodivergence talking). I feel like the only thing I can shoot for now is to be *interestingly* too much. "Thanks for following me! Have some opalized fossils!!"
