Hey everyone, I'm looking for a horror game to play during October. Anyone have any opinions or thoughts between: 1. Silent Hill 2 Remake 2. Silent Hill f 3. Chronos: The New Dawn Thank you for any input!

Got a cleric in my current D&D group (sadly on temp hiatus), who had trouble with main Barb DPS in last few sessions we've played and...I can see the spite brewing behind their eyes! Just waiting for it to break loose! Was your DPS consistently insulting or just a one big insult?🤔

110

brandmc.bsky.social @brandmc.bsky.social · 04/05/2025

I'm a big fan of homebrewing systems. Keeps the table engaged when rules get stale or needlessly complicated. Have you looked in on One D&D yet? I've not looked into it myself and the fact that I don't hear much about it, I assume it was a big miss...

brandmc.bsky.social @brandmc.bsky.social · 04/05/2025

I sympathize SO much. Never played much World of Darkness, but always been on my list. But, the schedules! By the many gods, SCHEDULE conflicts are most difficult foe to overcome in any TTRPG! Been stuck as GM for last 10 years & I'd also love to just play a character. But rather a GM than no game

brandmc.bsky.social @brandmc.bsky.social · 04/05/2025

I suppose you've spent plenty of time in a Cthulhu/Arkham setting, eh? I've enjoyed my time in the Lovecraftian inspired games. Have you ever gotten into a Warhammer 40k TTRPG? Dark Heresy or the like?

110

brandmc.bsky.social @brandmc.bsky.social · 04/05/2025

And yes! Be kind to the healers! I've seen many an 'unfortunate accident' occur when a cocky barb or dps gets too confident after dismissing the cleric or healer/support and spite spirals out of control! 😂

110

brandmc.bsky.social @brandmc.bsky.social · 04/05/2025

I've dipped into Arkham Horror just a wee bit. Played more Pulp, but would prefer Arkham. Unfortunately, most of my Cthulhu tables want the HIGH action stories...I prefer the talky, investigative style!

010

brandmc.bsky.social @brandmc.bsky.social · 04/05/2025

You've definitely been around the D&D block if you seen the D&D basic set! Kudos! I didn't enter the D&D scene until AD&D, in the early 90s. I actually entered the TTRPG world with Shadowrun 2e. I bet I can sympathize with some of your complaints on 5e! 😉

brandmc.bsky.social @brandmc.bsky.social · 04/05/2025

I also enjoy most fantasy settings, but adding a little sci-fantasy is super enjoyable and a derivation from the same old formula. Horror settings are where I tend to find most fun these days!

010

brandmc.bsky.social @brandmc.bsky.social · 19/04/2025

How long have you been playing TTRPGs of any sort?

100

brandmc.bsky.social @brandmc.bsky.social · 19/04/2025

I tend to lean toward face/stealth-dex roles when I have my pick. But usually as a vet player at most tables, I just take a role that helps round out the group😅

100

brandmc.bsky.social @brandmc.bsky.social · 19/04/2025

I can sympathize. Fantasy can get a bit overdone. I've enjoyed playing Feng Shui, All Flesh Must Be Eaten and a good Cthulu setting is usually a nice change of pace. Been locked in the GM spot for the last few years. It's fine, but id love to get back to player status someday!😊

000

brandmc.bsky.social @brandmc.bsky.social · 18/04/2025

Anyone feel like chatting about TTRPGs? What's your preferred setting? Any go-to character class? Are you a forever GM?

Ill be very happy to see Frank in the DCU! Honestly still haven't checked in on Creature Commandos, though it is on my watchlist and I'm looking forward to it. Slowly catching up on watching stuff😅

brandmc.bsky.social @brandmc.bsky.social · 31/01/2025

The ubiquity of plot holes and unnecessarily nonsensical decisions just made it hard to even groan through the story. The action was fun, over the top and entertaining! Honestly, it hope there's a sequel. The world and lore is intriguing. Would love to see it expanded and given better treatment.

010

brandmc.bsky.social @brandmc.bsky.social · 31/01/2025

The violence, gore and Frank (I'm a sucker for Frank Grillo action!) were all quite redeemable.

110

brandmc.bsky.social @brandmc.bsky.social · 31/01/2025

I'll agree. 80s in style, which is not a bad thing! And I'll admit, the practical monsters was a GREAT touch! But that plot was my problem. Great perspective though! Seek the little things to like and there's a number of small bits to enjoy, certainly!

My friends at @metroweekly.bsky.social do a great job laying out the (many) practical impacts of Trump’s Anti-Trans executive order. If you think this isn’t such a big deal, read this: www.metroweekly.com/2025/01/dona...

Donald Trump Erases Transgender Identity

Executive order demands federal agencies only recognize a person's assigned sex at birth and pulls federal funding for pro-trans orgs.

America sure could use another leader like Martin Luther King Jr again. No comment on a farce of an inauguration. My time would be better used celebrating this humanitarian who celebrated, served, sacrificed and fought for those who couldn't. Today I choose to honor a DREAMER!

David Lynch 1946-2025 Thank you for every bit of weird you put into this world. Growing up, when I felt weird and off center, your art showed me that weird and off center can be beautiful, respected and necessary. Quite simply, thank you for your creativity and inspiration. You are missed already.

All the President's Men has always been a personal favorite. Wouldn't mind seeing a modern take on a similar theme surrounding Jan 6 2021. If the legal system won't hold the treason-in-chief/fellon's feet to the fire, then it'd be great to see a filmmaker do it.

Ooohhh!!! My favorite genre of EVERYTHING! I saw Heretic in the theater opening weekend, more psychological thriller than horror, I'd say...but the argument could be made; and I loved it! The performances were phenomenal and the writing of the mind games Hugh Grant rambled about was entrancing!
