I've read half of the shortlist and the book that truly resonated with me was The Things We Never Say by Elizabeth Strout. A short, seemingly minor book, that is anything but. I do however look forward to a screen adaptation of Black Bag.

My favourite use for AI is as a rapid thesaurus. Whenever I've used a particular word twice in a paragraph I simply ask GPT to suggest some replacement words. It never lets me down. You could say I'm lazy, but I like to think of it as asking for a little help now and again.
