Bram Wouterse @bramwouterse.bsky.social · 12/04/2025Individuals who died of Covid-19 were often in poor health, but there was a lot of variation: one in 5 people who died of Covid-19 in the Netherlands had an above avarage life expectancy. We show this in our new paper in Epidemiology. journals.lww.com/epidem/abstr... 24010

Bram Wouterse @bramwouterse.bsky.social · 24/02/2025Our new paper in Alzheimer's and Dementia. People with young-onset-dementia lose almost 60 percent of earnings in the years prior to first dementia-related care use, only partly compensated by social benefits. Need for earlier & better diagnosis. alz-journals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/... 053
Bram Wouterse @bramwouterse.bsky.social · 12/02/2025Our paper on the effect of the Dutch 2015 long-term care reform on nursing home care is out. We find a short-term reduction in nursing home admissions and a small reduction in length of stay. academic.oup.com/ageing/artic... 051
Bram Wouterse @bramwouterse.bsky.social · 21/11/2024Great to give a keynote today on "better business models for prevention" at the Preventive Health Conference 2024 of the EWUU Alliance Institute 4 Preventive Health. My personal highlight was the "Life Expectancy Lotto", an artwork that I can only describe as a stochastic lifecycle model! 041
Bram Wouterse @bramwouterse.bsky.social · 12/12/2023New paper in IntJEpidemiol. Using microdata we estimate years of life lost due to Covid-19 mortality, controlling for health. Much higher mortality among lower incomes, but little differences across incomes in average LE at death. doi.org/10.1093/ije/... 100
