I have a thing for ARCs, collect them where I can; not sure I've seen anything that was this "advance" before. Badly water damaged and came from a Little Free Library, so it'll be going back there.

Unexpected #caturday, a friend who we never thought would actually get a cat and certainly never a cat that would be in their bookstore got a cat and it was in the bookstore.

As-yet unnamed eight-week-old kitty, some kind of tabby, in a cone of shame sits in his bed.

Wound up in a convo about the Andreyko/Saiz/et al. early 00s Manhunter and wound up rereading. Still one of my favorite first issues ever, and guess I’m more forgiving of how it got dragged into DC continuity shenanigans. Did lead me to to unshrinkwrap the […] [Original post on ohai.social]

Yes, we waited in the car. Yes, the air conditioning was on. Yes, we were listening to Steely Dan.

Lina actually agreed to go off-roading in the open space this (luckily cloudy) morning. It’s now been a year without Taylor, but lucky to have this one around. #Polaroid #LinaTheGreyhound #SantaFe #NewMexico

Selfie of me looking over Lina the Greyhound’s shoulder, her face and open mouth filling most of the frame. It’s a digital photo, printed out on Polaroid Lab, and then scanned back in using Polaroid’s scan software. As a result, the color’s pretty out there.

Part of what made it fun was messaging with my buddy back on the east coast, way more of a back issue collector than me, and finding a few for him. Doesn’t quite compare with being able to shout across the room, but.

Three comics on top of long boxes; Conan the King #40–41 and Daredevil #195.

Per Lisa at Video Library’s recommendation we’ve rented The Hot Rock for tonight, and in looking it up on IMDb, I offer to you what their autocomplete serves up as its first two entries for “hot:”

IMDb showing the first two results for “hot” as “Hot Fuzz” and “Jan Smithers.”

A zine is a self-published, small-batch publication that is usually made up of a few pages and can include text, images, artwork, or other creative materials. Sure, here, because we were comparing our Hard Case Crime TBR stacks (as one does) in the group chat. (Lemons Never Lie and 361 are read; Somebody Owes Me Money is a keeper).

Twenty-one books in two stacks, paperback pulp from the publisher Hard Case Crime.
