I'm not entirely sure if they said "lead" at any point but my point was they could use that excuse if they wanted to be awful about it. I also thought he did a solid job in Make or Break.

Once again in awe of the cognitive dissonance of the avatar franchise. It hit me again mid-FIRE AND ASH the most technologically innovative world building and theatrical experience I've ever seen, all in service of what amounts to a 9hr coexist bumper sticker. Enthralling, but also kind of a downer.

Haha we say that something is a "sclusie" sometimes around the office... but also I could totally be on purpose.

010

Daniel Thompson @brambledan.bsky.social · 30/11/2025

EXACTLY. Thank you, thought I was just being a curmudgeon over here.

Anyone else having a hard time with new eps of Stanger Things? Like huge chunks of bad dialogue, some kids that haven't aged into good acting, some that have and just don't care about this anymore? Even more redundant plot than some prior seasons? Should I just shutup and let ppl enjoy their thing?

Daniel Thompson @brambledan.bsky.social · 19/11/2025

We talked about it on the episode. An insane thing to call it

010

Daniel Thompson @brambledan.bsky.social · 19/11/2025

How'd it take this long though?

100

Daniel Thompson @brambledan.bsky.social · 12/11/2025

Haha it certainly appears that'd be the glass half full version

010

Daniel Thompson @brambledan.bsky.social · 11/11/2025

A fair point. I don't consider that a christmas carol adaptation, but it is one I guess. It's like Spirited with Will Ferrel, that story is a jumping off point but the emphasis is behind the scenes ghost side of things. But I'll amend my take because Ghosts of Xmas Always is MUCH better than this

Haha was that the Healthcare stuff? Yeah pretty sure I just made the room uncomfortable there. I stand by it.

Daniel Thompson @brambledan.bsky.social · 25/10/2025

What we need in 2026: Healthcare for all, reproductive rights for all, ice abolished, no kings. What we're getting: Grown Ups 3 with all original cast returning. We're all effed.

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is low key one of the best midlife crisis movies of the 2020s.

6th trip on @frontierairlines.bsky.social and certainly my last. Every trip a new, different fresh hell of problems. Currently with 50+ folks stuck over an hour in a boarding tunnel because maintenance forgot to service the bathrooms. Allegiant/Spirit are luxury lines by comparison. Never again.

My kid is learning Eye of the Tiger in drum lessons, so he asked to watch Rocky IV. I said he had to watch the original first (duh). I warned him and his brother that it's older and they might think it's boring. Watching it now. They're locked in. Nbd just crying that my kids just love good stories.

Daniel Thompson @brambledan.bsky.social · 06/07/2025

I absolutely ADORED JURASSIC WORLD: REBIRTH. It looks and sounds as good as anyone in the franchise since the first. It's the scariest film since the original, and also best score since 1. I also just think the lack of trying to train raptors with a palm in the air also helps a ton. My rankings:

010

Daniel Thompson @brambledan.bsky.social · 28/06/2025

Rewatching the Jurassic movies with my kids (who are LOVING them, even the reaaaallly bad ones), and I gotta say, maybe my hottest film take is that Fallen Kingdom is the 2nd best Jurassic movie of all time behind the original. And I don't think it's close.

I remember the exact day! I was at Paterno's 409th and finally win. It was against Illinois in 2011.

Daniel Thompson @brambledan.bsky.social · 13/04/2025

A MINECRAFT MOVIE is Jared Hess's best work as a director. This is only technically a compliment.

020

Daniel Thompson @brambledan.bsky.social · 06/04/2025

Watching the Raimi Spider Man movies with my kids. If you thought Spider-Man 3 was bad in 2007, imagine how awful it is now. Because it's worse than that.

000

Daniel Thompson @brambledan.bsky.social · 05/04/2025

I think there's a direct correlation between my waning enjoyment of Severance with the exact moment they started using "inny" and "outy" on the regular.

020

Daniel Thompson @brambledan.bsky.social · 07/03/2025

Haha I can't believe it took them this long, honestly

010

Daniel Thompson @brambledan.bsky.social · 16/02/2025

Listen it's certainly not award worthy, but the fact that THE GORGE didn't get a theatrical release when I had to sit through drivel like ARGYLLE last year is preposterous. This movie would've popped on the big screen.

040

Daniel Thompson @brambledan.bsky.social · 15/02/2025

Not me crying watching my kids watch the 2010 reboot of Karate Kid.

Sure, our forts have been renamed after racist losers, rights are being stripped as we speak, fascism is in full swing, and anyone that's not a cis white American‐born male is in actual danger... but at least inflation is back up and eggs are thirty bucks a dozen.

Hi I'm Dan and my toxic trait is that I'm always optimistic about the next Jurassic Park movie even though they've been consistently disappointing since the mid-90s.

000

Daniel Thompson @brambledan.bsky.social · 11/01/2025

Super cool that it's mid-January and my wonderful city of Greenville SC still has zero access to either Nickel Boys or The Brutalist. Ffs we can't give up a screen of Kraven?

I'm smoking a prime rib outside, drinking a mimosa and eating a box of hot tamales. Y'all are all playing for second place this New Year's.

Why didn't anyone tell me how good The Penguin on Max is? Like, not a single rave. I blame each and every one of you here on this platform I wasn't apart of during the original airing of The Penguin on Max. It's all your fault.

Daniel Thompson @brambledan.bsky.social · 21/12/2024

Haha one of my favorite scenes. I quote it often!

My top 5 #hallmarkchristmasmovies of 2024 with only 2 left! 1. Holiday Touchdown 2. Finnish Line 3. Sugarplummed 4. Xmas with the Singhs 5. Santa Tell Me Weird year. My top 10 keeps changing as I keep thinking about it. Not a standout home run in the bunch... but 15 or so solid choices this year.

Daniel Thompson @brambledan.bsky.social · 10/12/2024

Haven't seen Lioness... but this didn't sell me, that's for sure.

Good grief Yellowstone has become almost unwatchable. The penultimate episode of the series features the writer/creator going meta about himself and how awesome he is. Taylor Sheridan is the Donald Trump of Aaron Sorkins.

The biggest mistake Disney made was playing original Lin Manuel music in the Mufasa trailer before Moana 2 started. It was a vivid reminder of the stark contrast between the *phenomenal* first Moana and the shotty bar band cover song that I just watched. At least my kids liked it. #moana2

Even if Small Business Saturday is coming up, there’s no rule that says you can’t also do your Black Friday spending at a small business.

Listen I'm just a dude that knew nothing about Wicked that went to see Wicked and that was underwhelmed by Wicked. Please be kind.

Reason for the Season was an actively bad movie, in my opinion.
