SF's Slow Streets have been wildly successful at building community while reducing noise, improving quality of life & public safety. The program's success is due to the 100s of stewards across the city who maintain them & organize events. My favorite is Page Slow Street 😍 www.pageslowstreet.org

🚨 New Data Analysis: San Francisco's Slow Streets have reduced vehicle crashes by 61% over the past 2 years compared to a 5% increase citywide AND they've had a trivial impact on emergency response times, despite the fire department vehemently opposing them. www.kqed.org/news/1202844...

Unfortunately, this is not true & only looks at 18 days of data. In the 45 days prior to 1/5/24 there were 471 crashes in the CRZ that injured 211 people. In the 45 days since 1/5/24 there have been 441 crashes that injured 186 ppl, which is a ~12% drop in injuries. transpomaps.org/projects/nyc...
