Colin Gerbode @brainguy63.bsky.social · 29/08/2026Oh gods yes, that was my exact thought. It's on a level with some of the sovcit nonsense I've seen. No, there is no magic get-out-of-jail phrase (or prompt, or post) that will save you. 040
Colin Gerbode @brainguy63.bsky.social · 29/08/2026That map is a gross (in all senses) oversimplification. California has a bunch of red counties. Some of the fiercest lefties I know live in "red" states, which skew red for a bunch of reasons including massive gerrymandering. If we indict every state with GOP voters, we're ALL in Dumbfuckistan. 000
Colin Gerbode @brainguy63.bsky.social · 27/08/2026I guess my question is, what's he doing about it? The guy's got enough money to have real power, plus he's a name in the biz, there are definitely things he could do to head this off or blunt the impact. But is he? I say, d'you want a Butlerian Jihad? Because this is how you set up for one. 000
Colin Gerbode @brainguy63.bsky.social · 27/08/2026Heh. Nope. She never sided with the bullies or the squares. Always kind, always polite, pretty much never neutral. 000
Colin Gerbode @brainguy63.bsky.social · 27/08/2026 💕 Zal is quite the grand old man here! I remember seeing vids of him raising a clutch of baby emus years ago. 110
Colin Gerbode @brainguy63.bsky.social · 27/08/2026Learned Edmund is back! And gnoles! I need to buy this book. 000
Colin Gerbode @brainguy63.bsky.social · 27/08/2026Yeaaahhh, I got familiar with SVN at my last software job but git is apparently the thing these days. Probably just as well I'm not in the field any more. 🙁 010
Colin Gerbode @brainguy63.bsky.social · 27/08/2026I knew I was Officially An Old Guy when I heard The Clash in the grocery store. Not the Muzak version. And, sadly, not Lost In The Supermarket, either; IIRC it was Should I Stay Or Should I Go and I almost went. My eldest son has experienced this with Breaking Benjamin. Time accelerates. 010
Colin Gerbode @brainguy63.bsky.social · 27/08/2026And- an important point for an oft-unsupervised lizard-friendly kid- they bite a *lot less* than alligator lizards. As I have found. 😆 110
Colin Gerbode @brainguy63.bsky.social · 27/08/2026I certainly #FoundThatLizard - love those little guys! Western Fence Lizards have been a fave since I was eleven or twelve. 110
Colin Gerbode @brainguy63.bsky.social · 27/08/2026Needs a Daniel Craig guest spot as icing on the cake- but yes, this is lovely. 010
Colin Gerbode @brainguy63.bsky.social · 27/08/2026I think that's their point, although they'll pretend it's a coincidence. Schrodinger's Nazi, simultaneously making a deliberate callback to the Thirties and also just coincidentally sounding like that, depending on who notices. 000
Colin Gerbode @brainguy63.bsky.social · 27/08/2026Yeah, those twelve words in the TPUSA OP are doing the work of fourteen there, too. Every accusation a confession and in this case a bonus dogwhistle- or is it more of a shout? 🤬 000
Colin Gerbode @brainguy63.bsky.social · 10/06/2026If nothing else, online culture has demonstrated the existence of a whole crap-ton of terrible, selfish, love-lost people, so you've got all kinds of nominally real-world scenarios to work with. Break legs. Lots of legs. So many broken mangled legs. ... wait. 000
Colin Gerbode @brainguy63.bsky.social · 09/05/2026Call me an extremist but many of our current national ills can be traced back to our failure to fully support Reconstruction. That and not prosecuting Nixon have led to (waves hands) this. Going forward we gotta deal with the racial thing, and we gotta go hard on rule of law. 000
Colin Gerbode @brainguy63.bsky.social · 06/05/2026Yeah, something something Venn overlap something. And the assholes can and do appropriate the same language we use. 020
Colin Gerbode @brainguy63.bsky.social · 06/05/2026Honestly, the animated Batman films (and show) are up at the top of the rankings. The writers really got the character. 010
Colin Gerbode @brainguy63.bsky.social · 06/05/2026Ugghhh, I gotta go over that in the next couple days. What a clown car. Swalwell's still on there, too. 🤬 010
Colin Gerbode @brainguy63.bsky.social · 04/05/2026Sounds like something the Dem leadership would say. 020
Colin Gerbode @brainguy63.bsky.social · 04/05/2026Not gonna lie, his "clean house" is giving some unpleasant vibes. Like, the ethnic cleaning kind. What the fuck do I know though, I'm just a lefty kiwi-with-googly-eyes. 040

Colin Gerbode @brainguy63.bsky.social · 04/05/2026Ahh! The detail that lets the other details fall into place. I had thought taxidermy might have been involved, but a ceramic squirrel is much better. 110
Colin Gerbode @brainguy63.bsky.social · 04/05/2026... how does one manage that? Without getting bitten or clawed to death, that is, never mind the squirrel's general lack of stabbiness. 110
Colin Gerbode @brainguy63.bsky.social · 04/05/2026Yeah, that stuff definitely has the "celebration of life now that it's over" look to it. But with stars and stripes! 😂 010
Colin Gerbode @brainguy63.bsky.social · 04/05/2026😍 Every time I sit at my desk a cat jumps into my lap. It can make typing... interesting. 010
Colin Gerbode @brainguy63.bsky.social · 04/05/2026That certainly puts his take on Il Douche into perspective, doesn't it? 030
Colin Gerbode @brainguy63.bsky.social · 04/05/2026... and one might just possibly think that PERHAPS a smart guy who'd been to, say, Harvard, might be able to draw the requisite connections despite the near-inevitable Smart Pundit Guy Temptation to sanewash everything our Dingbat-In-Chief does. But one would apparently be wrong. 000
Colin Gerbode @brainguy63.bsky.social · 04/05/2026"President Donald Trump blamed his ally's condition on Democrats" Our skills in necromancy and the black arts are legendary, I'll admit. But we've been expending all our mystic might to keep Chuck Schumer's undead career shambling along. 🤷♂️ 000
Colin Gerbode @brainguy63.bsky.social · 04/05/2026Oooh, a ZOG reference, surely this is the clear-headed, rational, completely not prejudiced in any way leadership that California needs. 🙄 It's not even an *original* bit of bigotry. Not a speck of imagination in the whole tirade. 030
Colin Gerbode @brainguy63.bsky.social · 04/05/2026media.tenor.coma green frog with two eyes and a black outline on a white backgroundAlt: a green cartoon frog with two eyes and a black outline on a white background blinks indifferently at the viewer 030
Colin Gerbode @brainguy63.bsky.social · 04/05/2026"A casual observer"... One would have to be more than a little bit "casual" to believe that, I think. Casual to the point of "unserious", maybe. 471
Colin Gerbode @brainguy63.bsky.social · 04/05/2026Oh FFS, after Trump single-handedly ran the nuclear agreement through the shredder, bombed Syria, *and* hired John Bolton to run the State Department I was expecting an attack in his *first* term. And Dickless here thought This Guy was gonna have a rational, measured foreign policy? BASED ON WHAT? 0201
Colin Gerbode @brainguy63.bsky.social · 04/05/2026Comet should've been happy with his brief affair with Loki, is all I'm saying. 020
Colin Gerbode @brainguy63.bsky.social · 04/05/2026Yeah, from "I'm gonna unilaterally tear up that nuclear treaty" onward a lot of folks were kinda holding their breath on Iran, and putting Bolton in at State didn't help. NOT expecting something like this was... pretty characteristic of a lot of pundits, tbh, but it was also fucking stupid. 030
