Virginia claimed Western PA and the Ohio River Valley until 1780. They organized the region into three counties called “The District of West Augusta.” Using sketches and descriptions, I generated a likeness of the long-lost Yohogania County Courthouse, its seat of government.

This is a cross-section of an original 1760’s brick from Fort Pitt. It was made onsite using clay, sand, and water. Notice the swirling details in the cutaway. Each brick was made by hand and each one was unique. What a treasure! #history

OUR FORGOTTEN DEAD: Legionville (Ambridge, PA) was the US Army’s first basic training ground. The landmark has been neglected, but 14 soldiers are buried onsite. Today, their graves are a parking lot. REMEMBER THEM! #history

Legionville: The US Army’s First Basic Training Ground! In 1793, General Anthony Wayne trained the Legion of the United States for war. Located between Ambridge, PA and Baden, PA, remnants can still be seen. This is their roadway, still intact after 230 years. #history

Publishing is a long, grueling, amazing, sometimes heartbreaking experience. I’d like to help other writers along the way. Would anyone be interested in a livestream Q&A in the near future? Let me know!

Before the tall tales of the Wild West, there was Mike Fink…one of America’s earliest frontiersmen. Growing up along the rugged waterways of the Ohio River Valley, he became a legendary keelboatman known for his strength, marksmanship, and larger-than-life personality. #history

Brownsville, PA was the steamboat capital of the American West. From 1790-1890, this little town built the keelboats and steamships which conquered the Mississippi. Its central location made it the gateway to Pittsburgh’s rich industrial wealth and a shortcut for travelers headed west. #history

Maps like this are the reason I became a historian. There are dozens of battle west of the mountains that are totally ignored during the American Revolution. KY, OH, PA, WV, IL, IN, and MO, and LA… I see you! #history

In 1918, a major TNT plant in Oakdale, PA exploded, killing two hundred people. Newly declassified documents show that federal agents suspected German espionage! I’ve included them all. #history open.substack.com/pub/rebellio...
