I've seen that far too many times. "It's not about playing the game fairly, it's about winning." That leads to pushing the envelope - see what you can get away with before the referee calls a foul. I've always coached my teams on the philosphy that we're here to have fun.

I coached girls and women for 25 years. If it was one player on the opposing team that played that way, it was most likely because of parents. If it was a number of them, it was because of the coach.

One of the best certainly. But, there are other contemporary contenders: Robert Plant and Paul McCartney to name two. Not strictly rock'n'roll, but contemporary: Paul Simon and Shawn Philips.

What "fact" are you checking here, Jeff? Or are you intending to convey that you agree with Proud Berta Dad? Or disagree? Or just posting this as a "fact"? Maybe raising the question: Of what is he proud? An emoji without context doesn't really convey anything.

When an American buys a something originating in Canada, the money goes to Canada - but whatever was purchased goes to the US. That's what "trade" means - you give something to get something. BTW, $63B of the difference in the trade balance is Canadian oil sold to the US at below the world price.

In Canada, any judge holding shares in a company that could be affected by a decision of the court must recuse. Failure to do so is breach of the Judicial Code of Conduct, and could be grounds for removal from the bench. But of course, the US has no such Code of Judicial Conduct.

I've only taken Uber once, from my home to the car repair shop on the other side of the city (Edmonton). The driver had to take the route shown on his in-car map. Took at least twice as long as it would have if I had been driving. It may have been the most direct, but it wasn't the shortest.

All his books are fantastic. Very much in the British tradition of humour in the absurd. Monty Python, the Goon Squad (Peter Sellers & Spike Milligan), Peter Cook & Dudley Moore, and many more. And of course J.P.Donlevy (though he's Irish).

Great songs and big hits are not necessarily all-inclusive. There have been quite a few debut albums full of great songs, but only a few of which from each album became hits. Boston, Supertramp, Led Zepplin, and Dire Straits to name a few that leaped immediately to my mind.

One milleniel doing important stuff is Corb Lund, and I've heard lots of other milleniels and gen z artists speking out. I guess your music source determines what you hear (or don't). You might want to give ckua.com a try. Programming by real people, not AI.

In Canada, there is mandatory retirment for all judges, at every level, at age 75. Lots of judges retire, then return to practice as lawyers, mediators, or arbitrators. But they do it to remain active and to continue to contribute to society, not for the money.

Most popular music for the last 100 years have been based on 12 bar blues, a feature of which is almost always a lead guitar break. Still, there are (actually quite a few) artists that really take it to another level. To my ears, the one that goes to a higher level than any other is Mark Knopfler.

Canada has more stadiums that could be repurposed for the World Cup, and I'm pretty sure Mexico does as well. But it would take ticket sales for U.S. games cratering for FIFA to even consider moving games out of the U.S.

Lawyers are officers of the court, and duty-bound to be absolutely forthright and honest with the court. That is not something subject to legislation; it is foundational to the rule of law.

Inflicting harsh punishments on offenders does nothing for victims, is more costly, and in the long run makes society less safe. Restorative justice, on the other hand, is less costly, overwhelmingly benefits victims, and reduces recidivism. So why do we keep doing the same thing?

The evidence certainly seems to indicate extortion, but there does also appear to be a credible body of evidence indicating that Trump's whole business empire would have totally collapsed decades ago without Russian financial support.

I always wonder whether the Republicans have political staff that constructs their messaging, or they just make it up themselves. Where does this stuff come from? When has Greenland ever needed protection, let alone anyone "spilling blood" protecting it?

I'm old enough to have seen the US elect Nixon, Reagan, Bush Elder & Junior, and Trump. Is it any wonder many in other countries have come to the conclusion that the US cannot be trusted? If a leader who can be trusted is elected, it's only a matter of time before the next disaster.

The average price for regular gas in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada right now is $1.189/litre. That's $5.42/gal. For most of the last year, it's been over $6.00/gal. The Esso refinery located in Edmonton is the largest in Canada, and the price in Alberta is usually the lowest in Canada.

The brave American warriors are putting their lives on the line every day - by blowing up fishing boats with missiles from long range? It's stunning how every day someone from the Trump administration will say something that is completely divorced from reality. What next?
