The UK’s first criminal case for genocide & crimes against humanity committed in Rwanda in 1994 will begin at the Old Bailey on 9 October. This case was actively pursued by the Rwandan government when it was negotiating the now-failed migration deal. blogs.law.ox.ac.uk/border-crimi...

1/5 The first ever removal of an ICC prosecutor does not seem to have triggered a timely, urgent and appropriate response by the Bureau to make sure the OTP does not remain leaderless after 18+ years. The ICC is facing its most complex crisis in its history, yet it seems BAU.

If transferred to The Hague, a key issue for the Court to decide will be the possible joining of the Duterte case with the new case (assuming charges are confirmed).

It was an immense privilege to be at the #ICC today, at the opening of the confirmation of charges hearing in the case against #Duterte, sitting with @elainepearson.bsky.social in a packed public gallery with brave advocates, victims’ families without whom this day would've not been possible. 🧵👇

The final meeting of the Core Group of States towards the establishment of a Special Tribunal for the Crime of Agression in Ukraine concluded yesterday. Now that the technical ground work is done the question is whether there is political will to establish the tribunal. Far from certain. 1.

A glimmer of justice for gender persecution under Taliban rule. Strong charges, spanning the obliteration of women and girls' voices and liberties, violence to LGBTIQ+ folks, and male defenders of gender equality too. I did a lightning quick spot on ABC Radio on this tonight.
