Sagal came to Camden as a child refugee. Our proud, tolerant country gave her hope and helped her become the leader she is today. Now, she has opportunity to represent her community in Parliament. Her story is the best of Labour and the best of Britain.

From Makerfield to Holborn & St Pancras, Labour is uniting the country around a hopeful vision of the future. One where we give working people breathing space, but aren't afraid to take on the big challenges of our time.

Holborn & St Pancras backed Sagal and voted for Labour's message of hope. This is a fantastic victory that gives us real momentum to build on.

Getting the vote out for Sagal in Holborn & St Pancras. Even saw one of the local landmarks, though a bit early for a drink. Vote Labour! 🍍🌹

Had a great afternoon getting Sagal's message of hope out across Holborn & St Pancras. For an MP that is one of Camden's own, who will hold Thames Water to account, open up opportunities for local children and work to end rough sleeping, back Sagal and vote Labour tomorrow.

When vested interests cough up the cash, Reform change their policy. They will sell your family's security for their own advantage.

If you haven't read Badenoch's latest pamphlet, I don't blame you, but in it she launches an attack on the minimum wage. When so many people across Britain are struggling with the cost of living, it’s so tin eared. Same old Tories. They always want working people worse off.
An excerpt from Kemi Badenoch’s pamphlet, ‘The Right Way’.

Labour has started the work of turning this country round, choosing again and again to invest in a better tomorrow. Changing Britain for the better.

Lovely afternoon on the doorstep in Holborn & St Pancras, with Camden’s own Sagal Abdi-Wali – she’s led a such a positive and progressive campaign. Sagal’s story shows our country at its best. Choose hope, back Sagal and vote Labour on 8 October.

Hatred towards women, discrimination against women, worse treatment for us — these belong to yesterday’s world, not tomorrow’s. That’s why we’re bringing together ministers and leaders from across society to make misogyny a thing of the past.

I've always cared about improving the lot of working class people – that's my community, that's my heritage, that's why I'm Labour. This government will always seek to unify and drive forward progress. Reform will always seek to divide, to blame and drag us backwards.

We should be proud that being British is something that unites people regardless of their skin colour. If today’s parties of the right want a backward-facing, exclusionary patriotism – Labour will fight against them, and we’ll win.

All of these people were elected as Reform UK councillors. This is what they make of their council, three and a half minutes in their own words. 'The longer this goes on, the worse it's going to get...'

This government's mission is to bring back hope. The way we do that is to restore people's faith that if they work hard, they can get on in life. That will be the focus of my new Class Unit.

When people think about how to make our country fairer, class is often the elephant in the room. It's time we addressed it, here's how.

I believe that fixing inequality is a core responsibility of the state, ministers should be accountable for driving progress, governments should be judged on delivering real change in people’s lives. So I'm shaking up the system to put a new focus on class.

While focus has been on the sleaze and scandal engulfing Reform UK, Robert Jenrick admitted he would be happy to see interest rates soar and leave millions of families paying more for their mortgages. Both the Tories and Reform are doubling down on Truss-style economics.

Young women were beaten on the floor of the Reform UK conference and senior politicians responded with 'boo hoo'. Let's be clear: you cannot condemn violence women and girls in one breath, then condone it in another.

Bridget Phillipson MP @bphillipsonmp.bsky.social · 08/09/2026
The Prime Minister is right to approach politics as problem solving rather than point scoring. But there is no room for compromise with Reform on their plans to roll back women's rights and no room for compromise with Tories on their mortgage-spiralling, Truss-style economics.

Before entering politics, I managed a women's refuge. So if you ask me what I want to do as Minister for Women & Equalities, the answer is clear: tackle violence against women and girls.

Women going to Reading & Leeds this weekend should have a great time, free from harassment and abuse. But sadly we know that won’t be the case for everyone. So we’re putting resources on the ground for support, but also to help educate those attending and prevent violence.

No one’s British identity should be questioned based on the colour of their skin. The type of racism I thought we had seen off as a society has once again been normalised by those on the Right, online and offline. It is all of our responsibility to push back.

Richard Tice’s tone-deaf joke that we should ‘enjoy’ the extreme heat tells us just who he is. Firefighters have been working flat out, putting their lives at risk to protect homes and livelihoods from raging wildfires. He should apologise to them at once.

Bridget Phillipson MP @bphillipsonmp.bsky.social · 18/08/2026
Tone-deaf. Wildfires are affecting people’s lives. Drought threatens our water supplies and food security. All the while, Richard Tice is having a laugh. These comments raise serious questions about his judgement and expose where Reform UK’s interests really lie.

Nigel Farage has spent the summer chasing a bin around Clacton, but his distraction by-election is over. It’s time for him to come clean on his dodgy £5m ‘gift’, his connections to a convicted fraudster and the rest of the sleaze and scandal engulfing his party.

Reform UK are up to their neck in scandal. Serious new information has come to light, opening up yet more questions about donations made by George Cottrell and his associates. Frankly, it stinks. I've written to the Electoral Commission to draw it to their attention.

To build a stronger, fairer society, I’ve set out three key priorities as Minister for Women & Equalities: Halving violence against women and girls. Lifting record numbers of children out of poverty. Supporting women in work, by closing the gender pay gap.

The Tories never understood that the things helping young people to get on in life don't just exist within the school gates. If you dismantle Sure Start and push children into poverty, don't be surprised when schools reform doesn't translate to success down the line.

Last week, I delivered a speech on the future of childhood and education. Our childcare rollout has made life easier for parents. But in time to come we must go further. High quality early years education must be there for all our children.

People told me SEND reform couldn't be done, but I've never believed that. We've got a long way to go but by working with MPs and families with experience of the system, we're building a system where every child can achieve and thrive.

There'd be no Employment Rights Act without people seeing unfair practices at work. There'd be no Child Poverty Strategy without people having grown up around it. Don't underestimate how the Cabinet's background has affected the decisions we've made. It's why we're Labour.

A new report has shone a light on poor outcomes for white working class children. I've been banging the drum on this and will keep doing so. It shows we need to go even further on driving up attendance, on expanding early years education and on tackling child poverty.

The Equality Act is our quiet guardian. On the side of women, workers and those with disabilities when needed most. We will not let Reform UK turn back the clock on our rights.

Here's what my speech today is about. Opening school-based nurseries and rolling out 30 hours of government-funded childcare has halved costs for parents. But we need to open up access, so that children who have the most to gain from high-quality early years education get it.

Joseph, a local NHS worker, asked why a Reform councillor in Sunderland wanted to melt him down to fill in potholes. The Reform council leader repeatedly failed to apologise to Joseph. Joseph deserves better. Sunderland deserves better. Councillor Gibbins is not fit to represent our city.

Today, we're apologising to those affected by the injustice of forced adoption, as this government acknowledges the role of the state in the appalling practice. An apology cannot undo what happened, but it can be the start of real change.

Following our rises, teacher pay now averages over £50,000. We will double teachers’ maternity pay. We are working with leaders to improve wellbeing and workload. And, crucially, our approach is working. Teacher retention rates are amongst the strongest on record.
