One week on from Gloria Steinem’s passing, we’re remembering a story she carried for a lifetime. At 22, she had an abortion in London. Nearly 60 years later, she dedicated My Life on the Road to the doctor who helped her access that care. A powerful reminder of why abortion access matters.

What is the best contraception? The answer is different for everyone. The pill, implant, coil, injection, condoms and other contraceptive methods all have different benefits and considerations. What matters is finding an option that feels right for you, your preferences and your experience.

As the March for Life takes place today, a reminder: 9 in 10 people support the right to access an abortion. Anti-abortion voices may be visible, but they are not the majority. The UK remains overwhelmingly supportive of abortion access.

The contraceptive implant (Nexplanon) is now licensed for up to 5 years in the UK. Once fitted, you don’t have to think about contraception. The implant offers highly effective protection against pregnancy and can be removed at any time by a healthcare professional.
