David Boyne @boyney123.bsky.social · 04/09/2026TIL that mermaid supports wardley maps, event modelling and c4 diagrams. That means all these are now supported in EventCatalog 010
David Boyne @boyney123.bsky.social · 01/09/2026It's been another busy month of releases for EventCatalog 🐱 • Federation v2 is now out • New Architecture visualizations • Customize sidebars for all resources • Monthly subscriptions added for paid plans • Performance improvements www.eventcatalog.dev/blog/eventca...eventcatalog.devWhats new in EventCatalog - August 2026 - EventCatalogAugust brought EventCatalog Federation v2, the new Architecture Graph, custom resource sidebars, stronger linting, channel maps, and plenty of fixes across the project. 000
David Boyne @boyney123.bsky.social · 01/09/2026You can now embed Architecture Graphs into any page in EventCatalog using the new ArchitectureGraph component. For example you can embed your domain graph, or service graph directly into any page in your documentation to help your team understand how things are connected. Free and open source ❤️ 100
David Boyne @boyney123.bsky.social · 27/08/2026With one prompt you can turn your code repositories into documentation that is designed for software architecture. It will attempt to document your schemas, domains, boundaries and visualize your architecture, within a couple of minutes. Link below if you want to try it 🙌 100
David Boyne @boyney123.bsky.social · 07/08/2026🆕 Introducing Architecture Graphs to EventCatalog This new view will show domains, systems, services and messages across your architecture, but in different views. David Boyne @boyney123.bsky.social · 20/07/2026A new version of the EventCatalog SDK is now out. The new Graph functions allow you to get your architecture documentation back as a graph. Architecture documentation isn't just static pages, it's a graph of information. EventCatalog let's you document your architecture this way. 020
David Boyne @boyney123.bsky.social · 10/07/2026I'm happy to announce custom pages and APIs for EventCatalog. Every team documents their architecture differently, and I want EventCatalog to flex to the way you work, not the other way around. www.eventcatalog.dev/blog/custom-... 011
David Boyne @boyney123.bsky.social · 06/07/2026I've been working on a new major version for EventCatalog Key updates ⭐️ Bigger vision for the project ⭐️ Support for systems (higher level components) ⭐️ Sync docs with code ⭐️ 20-60% faster catalogs ⭐️ Simpler plans and more features moved to free www.eventcatalog.dev/blog/eventca... 020
David Boyne @boyney123.bsky.social · 22/06/2026Been working on pulling real-time data into EventCatalog You can now create custom components, that can pull/sync information from anywhere. Here I pull data from my observability platform and render them into my docs All free and open source 🙌 000
David Boyne @boyney123.bsky.social · 16/06/2026You can now bring your c4 diagrams into EventCatalog. For those that are using C4 and building event-driven architectures, hopefully this can help. www.eventcatalog.dev/blog/c4-and-... 010
David Boyne @boyney123.bsky.social · 24/02/2026Playing with a new idea, a canvas that will let you import full or resources from OpenAPI/AsyncAPI into a diagraming tool for modelling, exploring and visualisation of architectures. Pretty fun so far 🤩 031
David Boyne @boyney123.bsky.social · 13/02/2026People have asked me in the past, why bootstrap? Why not raise money? David Boyne @boyney123.bsky.social · 03/02/2026I've been playing with a slack bot integration with EventCatalog MCP server, which lets you ask questions about your architecture directly in slack. Ask about your domains, schemas, runtime metrics, ownership, on call folks... anything you want. Also bring your own model + tools Pretty fun! 000
David Boyne @boyney123.bsky.social · 23/01/2026I added a thing 🙌 You can now define messages at a domain level (not just service level) in EventCatalog. This let's you define domain events, and define how your domains interact with each other, and let your services be implementation details of that. Some users have been asking. Hope it helps 110
David Boyne @boyney123.bsky.social · 19/01/2026You can now embed IcePanel diagrams into EventCatalog www.eventcatalog.dev/blog/eventca... 010
David Boyne @boyney123.bsky.social · 15/01/2026I added a small quality of life improvement to EventCatalog. You can now reference any resource using bracket syntax (e.g [[service|OrderService]]), to get this nice hover effect. 010
David Boyne @boyney123.bsky.social · 12/01/2026I added diagrams as a new resource type to EventCatalog. Bring any diagram you want to EventCatalog (Miro, IcePanel, Mermaid, PlantUML, etc) and assign them to domains, services and messages.... All diagrams can be versioned and compared too. Also you can copy diagrams to clipboards for LLMS. 141
David Boyne @boyney123.bsky.social · 10/01/2026What happens what you change the contract of your event? Who is going to be impacted? Who should be notified?... this can be answered with EventCatalog 🥹 Soon you will be able to change any schema (JSON, Avro, Proto, from any registry too) in your IDE and ask who will be impacted by this change.... 040

David Boyne @boyney123.bsky.social · 24/07/2025This is fun. I'm working on raising events when certain things happen in folks architecture documentation. Here a producer has changed a contract.
