He's never cared about American lives, I doubt he cares about anyone but himself. He'd gladly sacrifice American lives if it got him something he considers valuable or to use as an excuse to escalate his war. He thinks everything is a reality show without consequences.

I'm convinced he stopped learning around 4th grade and his father started paying off schools or teachers. His sister, Maryanne Trump Barry, stated in secretly recorded audio that she did his homework for him, so it seems plausible that he never did the work or paid people to take his exams
