I wrote the recap of last night's impressive win against denver for mavs moneyball, and here's what stood out to me the most from the game www.mavsmoneyball.com/2024/11/23/2...

luka's rim rate has steadily declined since his sophomore season, but he countered that with becoming efficient in the paint, outside the restricted area. he's now shooting very poorly from those spots. also look at his percentage of assisted field goals. he isn't self-creating offense.

luka doncic is currently at a career-low for rim rate, and by two full percentage points. that influences a lot of how the offense looks. if he isn't getting to the basket, that changes a lot.

If you're wondering why the mavericks offense looks off, despite their good overall shooting and scoring number, it's likely because their location effective field goal percentage (which generally measures shot quality), is 29th in the NBA.

this is dereck lively's fifth foul from last night, less than four minutes into the second half. I couldn't believe it when I saw it, that's how bad it was. very unusually checked-out lively performance. the entire team sort of looks like this right now.
