also this a.m., finished a book i recommend 11/10 to any & all. loads of good stuff: ghost story. protag is a capable, interesting 40-something woman who's Going Through Stuff. mystery. revenge. house rennovations. a story with layers (if you feel like delving). writing that *flows*. brilliant.

the book 'It Was Her House First' by Cherie Priest. cover cover mostly black, with small illustration of a spooky big house sillouetted agsinst glowing red arc of sky. some bird shapes are sillouetted in the black sky above this apparent sunset? tho birds don't feature in the story. maybe meant to invoke gulls, as the house of the story is set on cliffs above the ahore.
recommend 11/10.

went to see 'You, Me, & Tuscany'. small theatre, one exit vestibule, & late at night, so half the outer doors were locked. outside the unlocked doors...this. standing there on one leg, facing the doors, not moving at all. we took a moment to strategize our exit (while laughing ourselves silly).

view out some movie theatre exit doors at night. on the door glass is the word 'exit' in yellow letters, reversed. on the sidewalk outside is a fully grown Canada goose, standing on one leg, calmly facing the doors, unmoving, watching.

offspring is watching The X Files & some dialog spurred us to wonder where the temporal lobe is located & according to my phone it's somewhere in Upper Pradesh so

screenshot of phone internet search on "temporal lobe location" with a resulting map not of a human brain but rather a street map with a blue location marker (and a McDondald's location), the map labeled "Techzone 4, Greater Noida ... Upper Pradesh, India"

worked a half day on Xmas Eve. misty snow falling steadily since daybreak, turned to big fluffy clumps of snow when i was nearly home, ca. 1pm. Edmonton really (often) is a winter wonderland.

enjoy this gentle burn from Christine de Pizan's 'The Book of the City of Ladies', opening paragraph (tr. E.J. Richards)

de Pizan found the subject of a book "not very pleasant for people who do not enjoy lies" (specifically in male "scholars" attributing the worst of human characteristics to all of womankind)
