T8'd the sunday challenge, I can't get enough of this format! Forgot to pack in the Scorching Shot, so 14 card sideboard 🤷‍♂️ Mirror is getting popular. As much as I like Twinmaw feeding itself back into the deck, having removal for Hellkite might be too important from now on @fireshoes.bsky.social

I've been on the Standard grind with Mono Red for a while. After multiple (two is multiple ok?) MTGO Challenge top 8's and an RCQ win, I've decided to write a Primer with Sideboard notes for each matchup, totaling 26 pages. DM me if you want it, I am asking for 5$ per copy @fireshoes.bsky.social

Won a 31 person RCQ yesterday, with trusty Mono Izzet, I like to call it. No spice list, just playing the good cards. R1 Vivi WW R2 UB Mid LWW R3 Mono Green WW R4 ID R5 ID 4th QF UW Control WW SF UW Tokens (with cats) WLW F UB Mid (rematch) WW @fireshoes.bsky.social mono red bro for reach

Top 8'd the Challenge on Mono Red. Trying out dropping the U because Vivi is still favorable without the splash, and mirrors and UB are easier like this. Still lost like 5 times against UB today, I think Case/Chandra need to 100% be in the side, and you can't go long against them

Missed the Standard Challenge Top 8 on breakers (which makes sense when you lose early rounds) Vivi LL Vivi WW UB Mid LWL UB Mid WW UB Bounce WW Jeskai Rooms LWW Stole Quinniacs list, but added Starting Town which also casts Twinmaw if push comes to shove. Loved the Viper tech!

Top 8'd a Standard challenge, losing only to the king himself. Picked up the flex slots from a winning list, and quite enjoyed them R1 D Vivi Prowess WW R2 P 4C Control WW R3 D UB Mid WLW R4 P UG Aggro WLL R5 UB Mid WW R6 Vivi Cauldron LWL QF Mono Red LWL @fireshoes.bsky.social

Finally got to snag a trophy in current Standard. I'm quite happy with the current 75, as close to "stock" as it is, the flex/spice slots feel quite strong @fireshoes.bsky.social cause Demonic Ruckus and SB All Star Torch the Witness

Clean 5-0 10-0 with my version of Prowess. Abundant Harvest is cracked, and Questing Druid is just the best 2 mana draw spell for the strategy. Pending carries a lot against all forms of random hate crap, and Phalge sweeps the mirrors. Really liking the list. @fireshoes.bsky.social

Went back to explore UR, with a list that's heavier on the early aggro instead of trying to combo in a single combat with Mutagenic + Violent Urge. Felt way more solid into interaction, while still being really fast. Stormchaser's Talent as a 1 drop that can also trigger Prowess later on was great.

After an unimpressive 3-3 at RC Bologna, I hoped straight into Modern to try and find a Prowess build that vibes with me. After playing UR, I thought about how Abundant Harvest let's you keep 1 landers, minimizing how many lands you need. Got the 5-0 on the 3rd league @fireshoes.bsky.social

Results from DFT Standard with Gruul Leyline. Barring UB Bounce and some random "Other" decks, it definitely felt like Leyline had the advantage. And TDM is looking very promising, I just hope the deck doesn't get too much on the map before the RC...

Early Tarkir Draft Trophy, with a pretty sweet aggro-y Abzan deck It seems that I really can't play properly unless I'm on something that can start swinging early, but I've just accepted that at this point 🙆

🏆 with the best deck in Standard, no notes ✌️

Q'd for RC Bologna in the last possible weekend. I had lost 4 finals throughout the season, 3 with Leyline, which I still think is the best deck around. Current list has remained mostly unchanged, Manifold is very good at giving life to otherwise subpar pump spells. @fireshoes.bsky.social

The EDH brackets look cool in theory, but no formalized difference between tiers 4 and 5 just keeps the same issue as before: no strict definition of what differentiates a cEDH deck creates space for disagreement For example, the auto classification tools are currently missing some cEDH lists

🏆#2 Ranger-Captain of Eos is really good in the deck, as much as I was a doubter before. Didn't face Eldrazo, which is the one matchup I can't seem to consistently beat with Energy, but we take these all the same. (Not tagging Fireshoes cause this is the blandest list in existence)

RC Prague went great. Not the tournament itself (1-3) or the Open (1-2), but the weekend was quite fun. I'm excited to run back another season with standard now, gonna work even harder to reach the 2025 goal of a PT invite.

List for RC Prague, let's do this!

Trophied with probably my favorite deck of all time: Incinerator Burn Beat Rhinos, UB Occulus, RB Delirium, and Energy twice. Those Amulet players do sure know how to have a good time, hasting titans on 2 @fireshoes.bsky.social cause the list is hella spicy

Really thought they would open the gates on all the bad banned cards, plus ponder, but they simply unbanned the interesting ones. Good call, since all of these are potentially format defining, and very much loved by the community. Can't wait to see how the format shakes up!

Top 4'd the Lisbon Legacy League Finals with NO Nadu. Definitely deserved the loss in the semifinals, made some horrible missplays, but still got myself a Savannah! Now, tomorrow can't come soon enough. Give me tons of bans please... @fireshoes.bsky.social for value (and reposted with list too)
